Health Care Bill

on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.
"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.
The provision would outlaw individual private coverage
Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.
the bill itself will kill the market for private individual coverage by not letting any new policies be written after the public option becomes law.

Opponents of the public option plan have warned that if the government gets into the business of offering subsidized health insurance coverage, the private insurance market will wither. Drawn by a public option that will be 30% to 40% cheaper than their current premiums because taxpayers will be funding it, employers will scrap their private plans and go with Washington's coverage.
The nonpartisan Lewin Group estimated in April that 120 million or more Americans could lose their group coverage at work and end up in such a program. That would leave private carriers with 50 million or fewer customers. Causing the market to, as Lewin Vice President John Sheils put it, "fizzle out altogether."
The legislation is also likely to finish off health savings accounts.
With HSAs out of the way, a key obstacle to the left's expansion of the welfare state will be removed.
The public option won't be an option for many, but rather a mandate for buying government care.
Health Care Bill Fines
WASHINGTON -- Americans who refuse to buy affordable medical coverage could be hit with fines of more than $1,000 under a health care overhaul bill unveiled Thursday by key Senate Democrats looking to fulfill President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.
The Congressional Budget Office estimated the fines will raise around $36 billion over 10 years. Senate aides said the penalties would be modeled on the approach taken by Massachusetts, which now imposes a fine of about $1,000 a year on individuals who refuse to get coverage. Under the federal legislation, families would pay higher penalties than individuals.
The total cost of legislation will rise considerably once provisions are added to subsidize health insurance for the poor through Medicaid.
The government's costs would be covered by a combination of higher taxes and cuts in projected Medicare and Medicaid spending.
How long would you like to wait for health care if you fear you have breast cancer eating on you? You will have terminal cancer by the time they get to your number and be dead in a week.
Do you really want a Government handling, controlling and limiting health care, putting it through the manipulative lens of quotas and budgets based on cost, not safe and effective treatment? After all seniors and the elderly infirmed are too expensive and shouldn’t be so greedy with care when younger tax payers may need some.
The healthcare plan will be a nightmare of controlled treatment. People will die because treatment won’t be provided fast enough, well enough or even by their primary Physician. The Government and its draconian, worth shredding rules will be your real doctor.
The cost of doing business will be so expensive more businesses and jobs will simply disappear. Why do business if the Government forces endless taxes, penalties and forced health care on you and your workers?
Daniel Hannan, from the UK made an impassioned plea to the American people on what a burden the UK's National Health Service has become and to stay clear of following their example.
In the Canada Free Press Canadians discuss the aches and pains of waiting on a government-run health care system when they need it the most.
People living in other countries that have fallen into the trap of socialized medicine come to the United States for treatment, they don't have the luxury of waiting in endless lines to see a doctor, then another line for a test, another line to see the doctor again and yet another line for treatment, this draconian method is a death sentence for many. To avoid death they come here for treatment. If we adopt their failed system where do we go? WHERE DO WE GO WHEN TIME IS AGAINST US OR OUR LOVED ONES????
Peoples Attempt To Destroy The Best Health Care System In The World
I have shown, in my blog and elsewhere, those of you that are so eager to be completely under the total control of the government, from birth to the grave, just the tip of the spear that will eventually be the provider of your demise through nationalized healthcare. Your desire for something you believe will be free to you has blinded you to the truth surrounding the whole issue. Some of you bring up bogus facts as though they were the truth and ignore the truth surrounding you in the newspapers, news, television and the Internet. You deathly ignore the words from people and officials from other countries, warning us don’t go down this path as though their words were total ignorance.
You think everything will be so grand, like those who proclaimed to the media how happy they are that BO has been elected because now they won’t have to buy gas for their cars, or pay their mortgages. Well do you see how stupid those remarks were? Have things become better, are we financially in the black or are we deeper in debt then ever before? BO has spent this country, us, our children, our great grandchildren into endless debt, he has spent more in the short time he has been president then all presidents, all wars from the time of George Washington. You know this, or you ought to and yet in spite of the facts you know you are still biting at the bit, breathlessly in favor of adding another trillion onto our/our children’s children’s indebtedness. You seek the destruction of the best health care system in the world.
Has commonsense truly died? How have so many of you become blind to the truth? With people like those of you who are so eager for socialism how will this country ever survive? It wont, not the country that it once was, a country made up of rugged individualism, strong men and women, patriots that didn’t ask for a handout and didn’t expect one. Today I’m afraid we have become inundated with those whose purpose in life is to live off the labor, the hard work and wages of others. Go after what you crave, once you have it you will soon find that what you will have is a far cry from what you expected, and when you are gravely ill and there is a pinhead government official standing between you and your doctor you will remember that you and those like you brought this nightmare upon us all.

Comment by Gordon on July 19, 2009 at 9:31am Thank you Don, I really appreciate your input. I don’t know what the end result is going to be, but as you say, the fight is on. A large problem is that of the entitlement mentality. People have their outstretched hands waiting for some bureaucrat to lay a pittance in their palm, the only thing left for them is to say, thank you master.
My hope and prayer is that the light of truth will reveal enough about BO to have him impeached. It will, however, take more then the actual truth, it will take Senators and Congressmen with a backbone, that are patriots, willing to share the truth with the world, when this happens the floodgates will be opened, the patriots of this country will let their voices be heard and this imposter, in my opinion, will be indicted and sent away for treason along with those at his side.
Comment by Donny Buckman on July 19, 2009 at 8:04am In 2000 I got wrecked my vehicle and broke both of my ankles ending up in the hospital for 9 days, 3 of which were ICU. When I got out I was notified by the hospital that I had 6 months to pay $55,000 which of course was absolutely impossible. I was a poor college student who couldn't work due to the shattered ankles. So, I went bankrupt. I have been living under that bankruptcy for 8 years as it took place in 2001 and will not be out from under it until 2011. In the credit market of mortgage, car purchasing, and consumer credit cards I have struggled with that continuously since it took place. Even today, creditors will look at that line and not bother to examine that I did not borrow anything from anyone but simply could not pay such a high bill in the time allotted.
I would do that over and over, and take the brunt of my mistakes repeatedly before waking up in the ICU with some bureaucrat standing over me counting the number of days I have been sick and how much of the universal pool I still have access to before I could get the surgery to put my ankles back together or have the physical therapist come in. Being an information technology professional I know the kind of decision making software that will be put in place to help manage hundreds of millions of medical files to have something resembling efficiency and they are neither thoughtful nor kind. In fact, what will happen is that someone up the chain of command will be able to use a dashboard that cut a particular treatment factor by 2 percent with the click of a mouse which will translate to a half million people going without medication. This is no joke, and Gordon is right to see the path we're on as treacherous and destructive. Freedom and liberty can not be built on government intervention. Our country was founded on the fact that our population would increase dramatically, and it has. Only by sticking to the precepts and principals of the Constitutional democracy with free markets will the system ever be able to grow and adjust along with our population. I can go into the segregation that is taking place which leads to increasingly large pockets of socialists gaining greater power over our way of life, but that's outside the scope of this comment. The bottom line is that this is going to be a real fight, literally to the death of our ability to provide quality health care in this country.
