Democrats want to ban plastic straws

Well here we go again, I see states trying to copy the idiocy of the fruits and nuts of California. I think that pretty much says it all, but I’ll add the following to show how far off the edge of reality this sort of thinking can go. I don’t know if it has passed but the state of California is considering a bill that would punish waiters at sit-down restaurants with up to “six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000,” for offering customers straws — because straws are bad for the environment. According to an article in “Reason,” the bill was introduced by a “DEMOCRAT,” wouldn’t you know it, State Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon.

Hey I like straws, they help to avoid the germs from the tops of cans, how bout glasses in a restaurant, I prefer straws. I know, how would you like to order a thick shake or smoothie and not have a straw, or those big adult drinks?

It’s true that no one wants to see these in the water, but carried to the fruits and nuts extreme I don’t want to see a waiter arrested and fined for offering me a straw. This is the kind of stupidity this sort of thing can lead to. Come on folks doesn’t this sort of liberal damn foolishness make you want to pull your hair out?
