I thank you graciously. I shutter to think what it would cost this bloated behemoth to produce a well written document of law; best to stick with what we have and amend it.

Now how can I argue with anyone this eloquent, except on one point, one point isn’t bad.
You said “State constitutions should be re-written”………………My only point here is not rewritten, but rather introduce an amendment to be argued out on the floor with the end result added, as an amendment, to the Constitution.

Okay, you've changed my mind about the stimulus. Some issues remain though, like investing in the security of this nation. I am of the opinion that insurgents have infiltrated the bureaucracies that run our country at practically every level. If we are going to skip beyond holding up the ship so that the frightened rats will eventually jump ship, and simply blow up the ship, then I think it would be a good idea to make sure that none of the facilities that our framers built are turned into communist edifices along the way. This is already happening to a certain degree in state and local government, as well as the education system in which I am most familiar. Do you want to know what I'm so afraid of? The reason I don't produce comments that are totally opposite what is being pushed in the legislatures? It's because I want to put a system in place that catches the rats, instead of cooking them alongside the good people who are doing their jobs of protecting and serving this country.
The economists use the word "unwind" when they talk about businesses which should be going into bankruptcy, but which are systemic risks and could cause economic catastrophe all by themselves. That's precisely what needs to be done to our government due to the global reach it is capable of. I'm not a globalist by any means, but many American companies have rights which need to be observed. Right now, the only rights the government is offering is to overtax them; thereby forcing them to outsource ever more of our jobs overseas. One of the things that need to be done is eradicate unions from any institution that is paid for with tax dollars. I could go into a lot of detail about what the true cost of unionism on government is, but I hope you'll trust that it is one of the most expensive experiments ever done by any government in the world. State constitutions should be re-written to include protections which are currently re-negotiated as union contracts every year at great expense to the tax payers once and for all. This will provide the framework necessary to retain some competitiveness between the public and private sectors for things such as my industry which is Information Technology. We already have effective anti-discrimination laws, which to a certain extent need to be scaled back and could be if the states created new constitutions.
Currently available departments like the bureau of labor statistics and the other employment based entities should be re-aligned to help guide old government workers into new private sector opportunities. Some of us are called to help with government affairs. I for one would like to continue using my education and skills to further educational technology. Since we are discussing cutting pay and eliminating stimulus, the end result for me would most certainly be the elimination of my position as the lack of resources throws my district into the dark ages. This could be offset if private institutions were allowed to flourish alongside of the government structures, until finally all of the skin sheds from the government serpent and every aspect which is not directly written into the constitution is resolved through capitalism.
We could go on through every public institution in the same manner of determining the source and flow of taxation through the system, but at the end of the day I think that our economy is so intertwined with government expenditures that without something to fall back on ending it would mean full blown revolution. Man, there I go. Every government bot and web crawler's going to be all over that last comment. I can't see any other way to get back to having a fair, practical, and direct democratic government without unwinding what our forefathers have built here and laying the true constitutional framework bare. In the end, that will need to be done in an equitable manner, and in such a way that the character and dignity of our nation must be held intact.

Just to add a little more to this discussion about the stimulus, just one factor contributing to the incredible sucking sound of our economy as it spirals south threatening to completely devalue the dollar as the major economic exchange, let me add this. It has been shown that for every $10 dollars of taxpayer generated stimulus funds there is only a jolt to the economy of about $6, the ship is still sinking. The so-called stimulus money taken from the private wealth-producing, job-creating sector of the economy goes primarily to public sector jobs, this does little or nothing for the private sector. Just look at our unemployment, remember the lie, amongst many, told to us by the defrauder in chief, that it would be held at about 8% if passed, now it’s at about 9.7%, home value is way down and people are still walking away from their mortgages creating a further drain on the economy, local and state, a result of further government interference. Those in government are trying to be smart by half showing no moral responsibility. Remember the axiom generated by Karl Marx, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Our deficit problem is caused by an out of control government spending to damn much money, spending without regard to what comes in or how it will be repaid, placing that responsibility on the backs of future generations.
As Ronald Reagan so aptly put it, "America was born in the midst of a great revolution sparked by oppressive taxation. There was something about the American character—open, hard-working, and honest—that rebelled at the very thought of taxes that were not only heavy but unfair. Today the proud American character remains unchanged. But slowly and subtly, surrendering first to this political pressure and then to that, our system of taxation has turned into something completely foreign to our nature—something complicated, unfair, and, in a fundamental sense, un-American. Well, my friends, the time has come for a second American revolution."
For government to help us it must work with us and not be a burden on our backs, proper government will help to provide opportunity and productivity, the government we have now is adverse to that and instead works to stifle any hope in the minds and hearts of the people for any sense of opportunity.
When the principles on which our government was founded begin to go into a state of decay the foundations will not long last. As Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. said
"Liberty is often a heavy burden on a man; it involves the necessity for perpetual choice which is the kind of labor men have always dreaded." To have a better tomorrow we must make right decisions today.
As the world has experienced all to often a good or eloquent speaker does little to impact our lives for good if their spirit is wrong. We must be ever watchful as those with wrongful intent will undermine, ensnare and enslave us and our posterity. In much of your text you bring God into it, I agree, but remember we are only as valuable to God as we are obedient to God. He is the Governor in all areas, what would His dictates be? If you surrender yourself totally He will direct your thoughts in all matters.
Let me say in closing Don, I am totally against all aspects of this so-called stimulus which, once enacted transferred unbelievable, never intended power to the federal government at the incredible expense of the governed. The ill affects of this stimulus can easily be seen through the arrogant encroachment of government into the private sector and the enormous debt this country is now in the red for. Generations yet unborn will face this immoral act. Foreign nations are easily able to economically hold us captive and/or control large areas of our country. This is something we should be proud of? This socialist act is another knife in the heart of our nation.
I know you have other issues but this damnable so-called stimulus has done nothing but exacerbate everything and look at what we, as a people, have lost as a result.

You are right, however ever economist I have ever heard has said that without stimulus we would be in a depression right now. I'm just trying to align it a little better the constitutional mandate of spending for defense and the greater good. When the government approves of corporations sending out credit card applications to peoples' dogs, yes I would say they are responsible for some individual lack of responsibility. Remember, this problem is caused in large part by my generation (Generation X) who have no respect for standards, ethics, morals, or anything else having to do with the foundation of our nation or its laws. The government workers who got caught up in it did because A: they were overpaid, and B: because congress turned their back on the credit bubble. Taxation is an entirely different subject. We're talking about pay cuts here, not revenues. This plan strictly works with American citizens who are working in the public sector. Plus, I have decided that the plan should have a 10 year drop off after which the stimulus ends and the jobs remain at the lower pay. So, every public employee who is on the high end of the pay scale will be looking for private sector work. This will cause a large increase in entrepreneurship as people scramble to replace their soon to be low paying government job with one that pays what they will need to live high on the hog again. Then, we will have bidding wars which will bring down the cost of goods and services for the public sector. This will stimulate the economy without losing money to foreign conglomerates and the very people who got us into this mess in the first place. As you know, we are in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. There's even a name for it, The Great Recession. To get out of it we need to make some rather startling choices, and make some plans that are not obvious; that's where "The Wall" fits. I'm writing my paper now, called "The Wall" because it addresses the wall of debt that is facing this country.

Here's how I would do it. I would cut every government job pay by at least 20%, and then use stimulus (here Don you are suggesting taking tax money from all the people to benefit a certain segment of the people, this is unconstitutional, for instance, welfare, this is an unconstitutional use of taxpayer funds.) funds to strategically relieve the fallout from it. The government, through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Sally Mae, GMAC, BofA, JP Morgan Chase, and every other American financial institution, should extend 20% or more of all payments owed by the workers who get caught in this draw down to make ends meet. This may sound like a strange solution, but the fact is that the government is what caused many of us to purchase things that are roughly 20% more than we can afford, or more in the first place. (Don is the government, through their irresponsible policies, responsible for our own individual lack of responsibility?) This thing should scale all the way to the poor widow who was left with a home mortgage that costs 300% of her income. As long as she is doing a job that is benefiting society,
(This is a relative concept, who is to say, she could just be a stay at home mom.) which is what I would like to believe the government is here for, she should be stimulated.
(Again, it is unconstitutional for her to be thusly stimulated)
This will resolve a couple of issues off the bat. It would prevent deflation as the price of everything would go down due to the 200,000 Californians who are forced to take radical pay cuts by effectively subsidizing them. (Rather then pay cuts, for salaries which granted are obviously high compared to that of many of those paying the taxes, the current practice of one day furloughs and Y -Rating all civil servant employees making over a certain amount, plus a cost of living freeze for the next three years in the city, county and state governments would provide the desired affect, in this particular area and there would be no question of any part of it being unconstitutional). Another reasonable solution to affect all, state and federal, private and corporate, is a straight 11.5 % Flat tax. This would eliminate the payroll tax, the social security tax, the tax for Medicare and Medicaid. Naturally spending would have to be cut to coincide with that which is brought in, this equals a balanced budget.. The flat tax would be more then sufficient. We have all been lied to. I work for the school system, and I can't handle a pay cut. My student loans and rent payment alone would eat me alive if that happened. But, if the government covered what I can't then I could stay above water. The bottom line is that American workers deserve an economic stimulus, and the financial institutions only deserve to get good paying customers. They should never have money handed to them by our government, that is a travesty. I have much more to say about this, with a great amount of detail. I'll start outlining it for a full blog post in a little while.

When Congress once begins to stretch its power beyond the limits of the Constitution, there is no limit to it, and no security for the people.
Today business’s can’t create jobs because of all the regulations, taxes and uncertainty of what will befall them the next time some pinhead in government gets another regulation passed.
Then there is the “Cap & Trade” problem which can be done away with.
Bottom line let people keep more of their earnings, it’s theirs, they worked for it.
Taxes in this country, if cut by at least a quarter across the board, with a binding spending cut to curtail spending more then what comes in to the coffers would be another solution. Unconstitutional, socialistic programs should be done away with, they have no place in a Republican, Representative form of government.
Every bill should be weighed against the Constitution and if it doesn’t comply it should be scrapped.
All ambiguity in bills presented should be removed, every American, U. S. citizen, of a reasonable intelligence, should be able to read and understand what they are reading and its intent.
Entrepreneurship must be encouraged.
Looking to government for answers always leads you in the wrong direction, it is never the solution, but rather creates the problems that work against us and take our rights away. The original intent was for a smaller federal government with certain duties and the states preserving their own rights. Today our government looks upon the people as servants to plunder, they forget the words “We The People.” The people have a government to serve at the peoples pleasure, not the other way around. Our government today has overgrown the consent of the governed. People forget that the federal government did not create the states, the states created the federal government. The problems facing the people today, state and federal are a result of out of control government that must be reigned back in.
Well Don I have laid out possibilities that are tried and proven, they work every time implemented. I agree with you on many things, but just as the signers of the Declaration of Independence were like minded they had their individual ideas which were eventually pounded out to make one of our most important documents.
As always I look forward to your future comments…Gordon
