Measure E, Tax, Salinas

Tax Measure

Is it possible the city has been spending more then it takes in? Is it possible there has been
Irresponsible use of taxpayer money? There are businesses that have closed their doors permanently, there are those that have moved completely out of this insanely run state to such areas as Oregon and Texas to take up residence in a more favorable business (friendly) environment. The fisca...l condition here is catamount to a 2nd. Term under BO. Jobs are leaving by the thousands. For those that are left doesn’t it make sense to make the area inviting to them? To provide them a one-up on other cities that are plying for them to set up shop? The problem here, in my opinion, is spending. We have always had Mayors and City Councils crying the blues and trying to beguile the public into siding with them to bring on a new tax or in this case to make an existing tax go on into perpetuity and place its removal on the backs of the voters just as it is on the backs of the voters to bear it.

There is no understanding how there could be even 50 people who are that excited about paying over more of their money in taxes. Apparently for these people there is no tax they do not love, they are either very well off, doing well in their chosen field and somehow still have throw away money or personally have something to gain from such perpetuity or are politically and economically ignorant.

There is just no understanding, in the light of the cold, hard facts of reality why the Chamber of Commerce would back such a measure. Could it be out of fear that if Obama is re-elected that by 2016 the economy of this country could be so incredibly devastated that a vote to extend this tax measure, in its present form, would be foolishness? Why else be pushing this now, as opposed to its sunset date, if not out of fear? We all are aware of the 6 trillion in added debt Obama has placed on us, more then all Presidents put together since George Washington, and he did this in less then 4 years; can you imagine where we will be in another 4 years when our current indebtedness has already reached our GNP? Talk about Greece? We’ll be Greece many times over under this Marxist who has already stolen our children’s inheritance, their heritage for a happy and successful future. Yes, they know it’s now or possibly never, to hell with the electorate as long as the city continues to get theirs.

I remember, not that long ago when a certain lady mayor under similar and I believe perpetuating circumstances was trying to humiliate the public into voting for a tax measure for the libraries, then the police, then the fire department and so on it went and to enhance her methodology on an unsuspecting public she went around with a coffee can to her meetings, as though for handouts for the General Fund, hey, her chicanery actually worked, she was an adapt performer, so much so she has been able to continue to hoodwink the still unsuspecting public to not only propelling her into a state office but to keep her there in spite of her lack of credible credentials to be there.

“Honestly, given all the good this sales tax does for our community, I am a little surprised that anyone would be opposed to it. That said, we have to educate and remind people about it.” REALLY, a great segue from reality to great expectations, all balanced on the backs of an increasingly financially exhausted electorate.

Has anybody ever thought of a reduction instead of an increase and that it might actually go further? We can not bear any further tax burden, we can not sustain what we have. I know one mayoral candidate brought up adding 10 police a year until we reached a hundred more then we currently have, well that sounds great until you start adding up the added costs, the vehicles, computers, uniforms, training, incredible benefits packages all pushed under the guise of public safety. Well tell me, how many of you can easily sustain what the cost of living is doing to you and your families now? Do you actually want to permanently add the financial screws to your families life and happiness and doing without or have, hopefully just enough to get by, forget the little extras, so the city can continue to grow, have great salaries and benefits packages and enjoy their life financially? Well if the answer is to say yes to the continuing, endless stream of tax measures that flood over us every election period then go ahead and vote YES on this Measure. If you want to see those currently and those to be soon in office begin to use some commonsense, utilize good judgment, show wisdom in their actions with understanding then you need to vote NO.,, Gordon Avery, Sept. 28, 2012

The Way It Once Was and The Way It Is Now

In the news today the libs. are saying desks and seats for school children must be made bigger in order to accommodate their increased girth. They are also dictating what children should eat and actually have taxpayer funded people who go around and inspect lunches mother’s make for their children, as recently heard in the news.

The problem is today kids lead a very sedentary life, the only thing that gets any exercise is their mouth and thumbs. Parents today are to dull-witted when it comes to being able to tell their children to go outside and play and to make matters worse children no longer know how to play. Back in the 50’s and 60’s kids were always active.

I remember when I was going to high school back in Portsmouth, N. H., I would have to walk approximately three miles whether in sunshine or sleet and snow. There were times I would get to school and be so cold I would have to stand next to the heater in the classroom to thaw out enough to bend my knees to sit down, now that may be a exaggeration but not by much.

Weekends were filled with chores and going out to try making money mowing lawns,

I also worked six days a week doing a paper route whether I felt fine or sick with the flu..

When it snowed I had the driveway and the whole front of the house to shovel out, only to have the joy of doing it all over again once the snowplow came through.

I fit playing ball and other kids games and activities in after my responsibilities were completed.

I ate everything placed in front of me, Mom’s homemade pies, doughnuts, cakes and man oh man those big Saturday morning breakfasts of bacon, eggs, pancakes and syrup or french toast, I can still see her cooking in the kitchen and smell the cooking. Kids then didn’t put on weight. Today kids sit and eat, they exercise their thumbs on their stupid electronic games instead of their body’s by going outside and having fun. I have seen that to ask a kid today to go outside and play they just kind of look at you with a puzzled look on their face, playing tag, touch football, hide and go seek, or girls playing hopscotch, or playing with their doll houses, or kids playing marbles or games with football cards are as foreign to them as, well, finding a toy cap gun in the department store. In school their learning capacity has dramatically fallen, kids today are actually dull witted compared to the day of their grandparents, and this worsening trend is growing exponentially till someday, and I fear not all that long away, the proud, intelligent, hardworking people and country we once were will be only a figment of the then current generations imagination as they go through their dumbfounded, dull-witted lives, living under dictatorial rule, with no ambition or desire to fight back. It scares me to think how far this country has fallen and it is only hanging on as though from a precipice.. Gordon Avery, Feb. 18, 2012

WHY OBAMA WILL BE RE-ELECTED IN 2012

We can’t let this become a reality.

IN GOD I TRUST

WHY OBAMA WILL BE RE-ELECTED IN 2012

Dr. Williams' prediction: Maybe you have
read some newspaper articles written by Dr. Williams a conservative
economist who happens to be Black. He has taught at several Universities
and is currently teaching at George Mason University .

No Matter What

By Dr. Walter Williams

Can President Obama be defeated in 2012?
No. He can't.. I am going on record as saying that President Barak
Obama will win a second term.
The media won't tell you this because a
good election campaign means hundreds of millions (or in Obama's case
billions) of dollars to them in advertising.

But the truth is, there simply are no
conditions under which Barak Obama can be defeated in 2012.
The quality of the Republican candidate
doesn't matter. Obama gets reelected.
Nine percent unemployment? No problem.
Obama will win.
Gas prices moving toward five dollars a
gallon? He still wins.
The economy soars or goes into the gutter.
Obama wins.
War in the Middle East ? He wins a second
term.

America's role as the leading Superpower
disappears? Hurrah for Barak Obama!
The U.S. government rushes toward
bankruptcy, the dollar continues to sink on world markets and the price
of daily goods and services soars due to inflation fueled by Obama's
extraordinary deficit spending? Obama wins handily.

You are crazy Williams. Don't you
understand how volatile politics can be when overall economic,
government, and world conditions are declining? Sure I do.

And that's why I know Obama will win. The
American people are notoriously ignorant of economics. And economics is
the key to why Obama should be defeated.

Even when Obama's policies lead the nation
to final ruin, the majority of the American people are going to believe
the bait-and-switch tactics Obama and his supporters in the media will
use to explain why it isn't his fault. After all, things were much
worse than understood when he took office.

Obama's reelection is really a very, very
simple math problem. Consider the following:

1) Blacks will vote for Obama blindly.
Period. Doesn't matter what he does. It's a race thing. He's one of
us,

2) College educated women will vote for
Obama. Though they will be offended by this, they swoon at his oratory.
It's really not more complex than that,

3) Liberals will vote for Obama. He is
their great hope,

4) Democrats will vote for Obama. He is
the leader of their party and his coat tails will carry them to victory
nationwide,

5) Hispanics will vote for Obama. He is
the path to citizenship for those who are illegal and Hispanic leaders
recognize the political clout they carry in the Democratic Party,

6) Union members will vote overwhelmingly
for Obama. He is their key to money and power in business, state and
local politics,

7) Big Business will support Obama. They
already have. He has almost $1 Billion dollars in his reelection purse
gained largely from his connections with Big Business and is gaining
more every day. Big Business loves Obama because he gives them access
to taxpayer money so long as they support his social and political
agenda,

8) The media love him. They may attack
the people who work for him, but they love him. After all, to not love
him would be racist,

9) Most other minorities and special
interest groups will vote for him. Oddly, the overwhelming majority of
Jews and Muslims will support him because they won't vote Republican.
American Indians will support him. Obviously homosexuals tend to vote
Democratic. And lastly,

10) Approximately half of independents will
vote for Obama. And he doesn't need anywhere near that number because
he has all of the groups previously mentioned. The President will win
an overwhelming victory in 2012.

-- Dr. Walter Williams, Jan. 2012

IN ADDITION TO THE VOTING BLOCKS HE
MENTIONS, THERE IS ANOTHER HUGE GROUP: THE NEARLY ONE-HALF OF ALL ADULTS DO NOT PAY ANY TAXES AND, IN FACT, MOST OF THEM RECEIVE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO "SHAKE THE BOAT" TO DO ANYTHING TO STOP THE FLOW OF TAXPAYER MONEY TO THEMSELVES

It's believed the United States is now
somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of democracy,
with some forty percent of the nation's population already having
reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship
to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote -
then we can say goodbye to the USA.

Escaping an Invisible, Chainless Slavery

Communism, Fascism, Marxism and Socialism: Systems of sharing, Systems of stealing
Escaping an Invisible, Chainless Slavery!

By A.J. Cameron Monday, December 5, 2011

While the OWS idiocy is ebbing, we are still under attack from those within our borders and our government who seek our demise. Due to both parents having served in WWII, I grew up realizing how damning Communism, Fascism, Marxism and Socialism are on the masses of those burdened and restricted under these ‘isms.’

Living through the days of bomb shelters and the Cold War, I never thought American citizens would seriously seek to introduce any of these ‘isms’ within the U. S., but there are those who are working ever more openly towards that end. When are patriots going to realize that many of those in power seek to impose slavery upon the producers and the lemming masses, an invisible, chainless slavery?

These ‘isms’ are promoted as systems of sharing, when they are actually systems of stealing. With our election system offering the stability of returning the unstable to office, many of the unstable begin to see themselves above those they take an oath to serve. Self-appointed, self-serving despots steal people’s money via an insane and punitive tax system that rewards the despots who impose onerous legislation and the benefactors of these despots. The despots inflict policies designed to exert control over those they boast to serve. As the despots misuse the masses’ money and manipulate their choices, people’s freedoms, based upon finances and choices, are stolen. Because these ‘isms’ supersede religious faith, traditional, faith-based morals are attacked, even outlawed, extinguishing faith and hope. Ultimately, the gates of Hell are opened, and Satan is able to sweep in to steal people’s souls? Isn’t this his all-consuming goal?

The despots of these ‘isms’ do not exist in a vacuum. Just as the mob has its made-men/button-men, the tyrants amongst us who are imposing their form of tyranny have their lieutenants who pluck the malleable, low hanging, malcontent and uniformed fruits of society who buy into their fraud and lies. There is always just enough truth embedded within their fraud and lies to attract those seeking something for nothing. Social justice is an example of this form of deceit, and many religions have bought into the lies promoted through social justice. The malcontents aren’t willing to act for themselves, so they follow the devious tyrants who use them for their own selfish ends. In reality, invisible chains hold back all but those who make and impose draconian laws, similar to the legal lawlessness under which we are now living!

American Socialist/Communist reality rely upon the naïveté of the masses
Additionally, the despots of the emerging American Socialist/Communist reality rely upon the naïveté of the masses who are too busy pursuing their individual lives to realize what is being done to usurp our freedoms, both openly and clandestinely. Many do not believe what is happening, but more importantly, many don’t want to know what is happening. They don’t want to be forced into re-prioritizing their daily actions, so it is easier to ignore, even run from, reality. These will be the loudest whiners, if the tyrants amongst us successfully subvert our Constitution and steal our God-given freedoms.

And there is a special enmity reserved for those in the QE media who prop up the lies and fraud pushed by the tyrants amongst us. They have devolved into ‘gangster ’ganda gossips’ who have abdicated their responsibility of informing the public of a government that is frightfully out of control.

If these ‘isms’ were so beneficial for the masses wherever they have been imposed, these countries should be magnets for the malcontents of the world. When has there been a mass migration to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, China, etc.? How many generations removed are we from WWII and the many sacrifices of so many to save the world from the advancement of the enslaving ‘isms?’ What has been (and is being) taught within our educational system that fosters the acceptance of the imposition of an invisible, chainless slavery within the borders of the free and the brave?

Capitalism does not force the masses into a form of dehumanizing, chainless slavery
Capitalism is far from a perfect system, and there are cheaters in every system, but it is the one ‘ism’ that does not force the masses into a form of dehumanizing, chainless slavery. It is true that within the capitalist system, the rich get richer. They move about within the same circles, they have access to expertise, and they have the money to make mistakes and rebound that the average person does not have. The rich should not be under attack within the capitalist system; they should be studied for their success and engaged for their expertise. Only capitalism allows people from all levels of society to pursue a vision and a dream with resolve to improve their stations in life, and the overall quality of life of society, because it is the only ‘ism’ that fosters an environment for invention and innovation from throughout society.

We are one election away from losing the greatest gift our Creator has given mankind in the form of governance as a way of fostering personal and societal growth. As a system of governance based upon Judeo-Christian morals and ethics, our country has become the envy of the world. Why are we abandoning what has given us the opportunity to enjoy financial and spiritual growth? If we are a true, two-party political system, the GOP must offer candidates for political office who are polar-opposites of the Democrats. Otherwise, the walls built at our borders will be to imprison citizens seeking asylum beyond our borders, not protecting our borders from those who seek to enter our country illegally. New Year’s Day is a Holy Day within the Catholic faith because it is a day for spiritual renewal, looking forward. 2012 provides us the opportunity for genuine renewal to re-engage with God! Let’s make it a truly Happy New Year on November 6, 2012, by electing servant leaders to public office, blunting the Progressive blitzkrieg, and leading to an even happier, more prosperous and thankful New Year in 2013!

What Are We Paying Obama For? And Can It Get Worse?by Thomas Del Beccaro

It’s simply hard to imagine this passes for a Presidency. At what point does he become simply too much for the senses? Sure we have had some interesting and bad Presidents before – recently in fact. Nixon changed our view of the Presidency for the worse. Carter was beyond ineffectual. Bush 41 broke a huge promise. Clinton wagged his finger while lying – and a bit more than that. But this President is truly something and it’s not just the facts that are bad – it’s his excuses and manners that make this Presidency so incredibly bad.

Let us count the ways:

A. The Economics.

This list is well known by now – but that doesn’t mean it is highlighted by the Media as it would be of a Republican was president.

1.Unemployment at 9% for a historically long time. According to Obama he inherited this mess and blames President Bush and ATMs. Yes Obama believes automation, like ATMs, is to blame – as if such automations like automobiles (accounting for nearly 20% of our economy) and computers (creating employers like EBAY and Microsoft) are the cause of our unemployment. Beyond that, Obama joked that he was wrong about “shovel ready” projects, created the “Saved” jobs category out of thin air, and claimed that the stimulus bill would prevent unemployment from going above 8%. What’s missing, of course, is a plan to lower unemployment – let alone actually lower unemployment.
2.Gas Prices. They are currently 85% higher than when he took office. He shut down our Gulf oil production for ideological not actual reasons and delayed a Canadian pipeline for political reasons. When Bush 43 saw high gas prices, the Media told him to go his friends in the Middle East to ask them to raise production. Since Obama wanted $5 gasoline all along, he has no plan to lower energy prices and the Media doesn’t harp on the issue. Meanwhile the economy is hurt badly because of the higher costs of energy that reduce purchasing power and hurt employers everywhere.
3.Foreclosure/Home Mortgage Crisis. This is the one part of the economy that actually is in a crisis that is “the worst since the Great Depression” – a phrase Obama is fond of overusing. Obama has continued the policy of bailing out the Banks for foreclosure related losses, encouraged Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts instead of reforming them and now he has sued the very Banks he bailed out because of their foreclosure practices – and no, there is no plan in sight let alone true relief.
4.The Deficit. It has quadrupled under Obama. Yet he says inherited it – and rather than change it, spending has actually gone up each of this 3 years. Obama’s solution: have other people come up with a plan – he was traveling or on vacation. When it failed, he said he knew it would fail. So Chris Christie rightfully asks: What are we paying Obama for?

B. Foreign Policy.

1.Missiles. In his first year, Obama scrapped a missile system – thereby telling Poland that years of such work and friendship with the US are not all that important. It also told many others the same thing.
2.Libya. We are not at war – just facilitating war. What was the national security principle at stake? The Assassination principle? How very Nobel.
3.Egypt. For years Mubarak was a reliable partner that kept peace with Israel. He was kicked to the curb under Obama and Egypt has descended into chaos.
4.Israel. I don’t quite know how much more you can disrespect an ally. Obama, however, managed to get caught doing what we already suspected – bad mouthing an allied leader. If that doesn’t make you wonder what other leaders think he is doing – this combined list should.
5.U.S. Image Abroad. Remember when Obama said Bush ruined our image abroad? Yet today effigies of Obama are hung or burned across the Middle East and Europe has lost faith. Wouldn’t you think of Nobel Peace prize would buy you more credibility than that?
All of which brings us to the Presidential meter. Just how Presidential has he been? I remember when Reagan would never take his jacket off in the Oval Office out of respect. FDR has serious fireside chats. Washington rode on a white horse.

As for Obama:

He just played golf with his friend who was busted in a prostitution sting. How very Presidential. We hear he did so out of loyalty. Nice.

As for his other loyalties, he bought a house from a criminal to be, Tony Rezko. Obama got a great deal to boot. At least is suffering from a foreclosure crisis – and let us not forget that he had a proud terrorist, Bill Ayers, raise money for him.

With friends like that, it kind of makes you miss Bebe Rebozo doesn’t it?

Of course, we can’t forget the wonderful Reverend Wright – someone he was loyal enough to attend his “church” for 20 years but not loyal enough to really listen to him.

Obama doesn’t much listen to the American people either. How else do you push ObamaCare down voters’ throats and wind up with 26 states suing and others all but nullifying the legislation?

All of which brings me to the final point:

Obama’s Miserable Consensus Building.

While some Presidents are known for courageous and tough stands that pay dividends in the years to come, most all of them are judged, at some level, by whether their coalition of supporters is larger after they take office then before. We have already seen what the World has thought of Obama. We know that, at home, his 2008 coalition is gone and it is not just because of the bad economy.

Obama has been picking fights with the American electorate from day one. The Stimulus Bill cleaved off his Republican support and fostered the Tea Party – which he then vilified on the way to ObamaCare. In between, he tried to legislative enact Cap & Trade, lost and crammed that down America through the EPA. He wanted to “prosecute” 911 enemy combatants in a New York court room and yielded only when even liberal New York said no.

Since then, Obama has engaged in class warfare over taxes in such a way as to only convince Americans he missed economics class.

In the final analysis, of President’s seeking re-election, two basic questions are asked:

(1) Is the Country better off? and,

(2) Have you brought the Country closer together?

In fact, Obama has not and, quite frankly, it hasn’t been pretty watching it either.
