Everyone has seen the sailor kiss the woman in NYC,
but have you seen this? http://vimeo.com/5645171 This is fabulous restored amateur footage
from 1945 16mm.......... you're gonna love it.

65 Years Ago my Dad shot this film along Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki capturing spontaneous celebrations that broke out upon first hearing news of the Japanese surrender. Kodachrome 16mm film: God Bless Kodachrome, right? I was able to find an outfit (mymovietransfer.com) to do a much superior scan of this footage to what I had previously posted, so I re-did this film and replaced the older version There are more still images from this amazing day, in color, at discoveringhawaii.com

Want to know how the lame ducks in Congress plan to "cut" federal spending – which seemed to be a dominating theme of the 2010 elections? They're proposing a plan to take upwards of $44 billion a year from taxpayers and hand it over to illegal aliens who are in the United States so they can go to college.

The plan is called the Dream Act, for Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors, and its critics know it as an amnesty program for illegal aliens. Its supporters say anyone who doesn't want to spend the money on college subsidies for illegal aliens is "racist."

But policy experts are warning the act is truly transformative and in the end, among other things, would authorize federal loans to literally millions of newly qualified applicants and provide a preference for the children of illegal aliens in state college admissions.

Get "The Late Great USA" and find out how America is giving away its sovereignty

According to the Department of Education, the maximum amount one can borrow per year for undergraduate education from the federal government is $21,000. And the Dream Act would incorporate some 2.1 million new "students" into programs under which they would qualify for those loans.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid [D-Nev.] has placed S. 2837, the Dream Act, on the legislative calendar, and has indicated he will seek a vote during the lame duck session of Congress," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., ranking GOP member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in an immigration alert. "The Dream Act will give them access to in-state tuition rates at public universities, federal student loans and federal work-study programs."

The education provisions are buried deep within the text of a general, overall amnesty bill, which may make the U.S. the new legal home for millions of now-illegal aliens, including criminals, Sessions said.

Opponents say the lame duck session of Congress should not move forward on issues that previously were rejected by lawmakers, especially on such monumental and controversial topics.

While the issue needs to be addressed, they said, it needs a full discussion.

True immigration reform "deserves comprehensive legislation that addresses all aspects of the subject, balancing all legitimate interests," said Joseph A. Morris, a board member of the American Conservative Union and a former associate attorney general of the U.S. under President Reagan.

"It should go to the head of the agenda in the new Congress, so that there is plenty of time for thorough hearings and an open and informed national debate," he said.

But many say plans to address the landmark change not only are being pushed now by Reid, who failed to get it through the U.S. Senate earlier, and outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, but they are planning to march it through the process without hearings.

Sessions said some of the more stunning provisions of the plan are:

Section 3 of the bill repeals Section 505 of the "Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996" (8 U.S. Code 1623) which currently prohibits the government from giving educational benefits to any "unlawfully present individual," thus ensuring that illegal aliens will qualify for "in-state tuition," at the state college of their choice, even if they live in another state.

Section 10 of the act enables illegal aliens who receive amnesty under the bill's general provisions to apply for federally guaranteed student loans under Title IV of the "Higher Education Act of 1965" (20 U.S. Code, et seq.), including Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, Federal Direct Stafford/Ford loans, federal work-study programs and federally sponsored tutoring and counseling.

Another section of the bill ensures that illegal aliens can continue to receive these federal student loans, which are often used to cover living expenses, as well as tuition, over the course of eight years, even if they do not complete a college degree.
An earlier version of the bill failed in the Senate in September, garnering only 56 Democratic votes, when it needed 60 to prevent a GOP filibuster.

Reid, with his renewed push for the drastic changes, is believed by some observers to be paying back Latino supporters, who helped him narrowly defeat tea party favorite Sharron Angle in the Nevada senate race a few weeks ago, by bringing the controversial measure back, and enhancing it with additional goodies.

Other radical left politicians, like Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., a key ally of Pelosi, D-Calif., are also publicly supporting the bill in the House.

"At a time when natural born Americans cannot afford to send their kids to college, watching the federal government take their tax dollars to pay for tuition on behalf of illegal aliens is a clear slap in the face," Rev. Isaac C. Hayes, the GOP nominee against Jesse Jackson Jr. this past fall and an emerging voice in the African-American conservative movement, told WND.

"Jesse Jackson Jr. is a staunch supporter of this amnesty bill and has demonstrated the ultimate betrayal to his community," he said.

Democrats, however, are feeling pressure. It appears clear if President Obama, a supporter of amnesty, does not get the bill through during the lame duck session of Congress, he will not see it passed at any time during the remaining two years of his term.

Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, author of the 1986 immigration reform bill and incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has signaled that liberal spending programs that put taxpayers on the hook no longer on the table in the U.S. House, where Republicans will be the majority. His comments came when he said this week that he and his colleagues would be "moving forward with our agenda to rein in government spending and create more jobs."

It was Colin O'Donohoe, artistic director for the Pangean Orchestra, an all-illegal alien performing troupe, who said, "I believe the issue is purely racist in nature and does nothing more than stir up hatred for Hispanics.

"Our country has hundreds of years of history in allowing people to immigrate. Now that the economy is weak we are turning our anger towards the easiest target which is the people least able to defend themselves," he said.

E.W. Jackson Sr., who works with STAND PAC, recently wrote the Dream Act is a nightmare that will lead to chaos.

"I know why Reid and his liberal Democrats want to pass the Dream Act. They just lost an election, and they're scared. When they look at 2012, they see their prospects for success are dismal, because Americans aren't coming on board with their big government agenda.

"They desperately need to gather up millions of new voters who will support them. What better way to do this than to open up a wealth of entitlements for millions of people here illegally, making them beholden to Democrats and their socialist agenda!"

He warned, "You are going to pay for it … Dream Act recipients will immediately become eligible for federal student loans, work study programs and other forms of financial aid – all on your dime."

Stop the DREAM Act now

In an era when the Obama regime considers terrorists citizens and citizens suspects – when Jesus' birth is considered myth, but Obama's birth is gospel – it is no great surprise that Congress critters voted out of office on Nov. 2 have reconvened, as if the election had not happened, to pass more laws just like the unpopular laws that caused their defeat.

In the waning days of the lamest of lame-duck sessions, Reid and Pelosi continue to fantasize about cramming the rest of their agenda down the throats of unwilling Americans. But don't think of this as "fantasy politics." The defeated Democrats are a wounded and cornered animal still convinced the voters were fooled into shooting the wrong party and determined to wield their lame-duck majority until the new voter-approved majority is sworn into office in January.

Nowhere is this "voters are too stupid to understand" mentality more pronounced than in the Reid/Pelosi fantasy drive for illegal-alien amnesty.

With "comprehensive immigration reform" dead because of voter awareness that this is code speak for blanket amnesty for "undocumented Democrats," the new amnesty is called the DREAM Act. Democrats are determined to push for congressional votes on the DREAM Act this week.

Proponents say the DREAM Act provides a path to citizenship for hard-working college students or members of the U.S. military who were brought to the U.S. illegally as young children and should not be punished for the law breaking of their parents or be victimized by a "broken" immigration system.

This propaganda has been blaring for weeks from every outlet of the Obama state media. (See, for example "Standing up for a dream" in yesterday's Los Angeles Times.) These lies can only be believed if you do not read the DREAM Act. Believe me, Reid and Pelosi do not want you to read this nightmare any more than they wanted you to read their health-care "reform."

Let me summarize the actual bill. Under the terms of the proposed DREAM Act, any person under the age of 35 illegally present in the U.S. (90 percent of all illegals?) can apply for lawful permanent residence, or LPR, if they have graduated from high school or have a GED and have been admitted to an "institution of higher education." The illegal need only finish two years of "higher education" (including community college and trade schools) within eight years, and, even if no degree is earned, can then apply for citizenship.

For illegal-alien students unable for whatever reason to complete the two years work within eight years, the "broken" immigration system can waive the requirement and the "student" can still be granted citizenship.

If an application for LPR is denied, the "broken" immigration system cannot use the information provided by the applicant in any deportation process in the future.

Astoundingly, the DREAM Act specifically allows criminal aliens to apply for the "student" amnesty. Illegals who have engaged in voter fraud, have ignored deportation orders, have falsely claimed U.S. citizenship, have committed marriage fraud, have overstayed their student visas, even those who are a public health risk – all are eligible for the "student" amnesty under the DREAM Act.

The mere act of applying for the LPR gives the illegal immediate amnesty. Applicants cannot be deported, no matter how frivolous the application is. Criminal aliens will learn soon enough that the DREAM Act is yet another way to stall deportation.

DREAM Act advocates also tout provisions which allow illegals, as an alternative to the "student" amnesty, to earn citizenship by serving in the U.S. military. Not quite. The DREAM Act does not require military service. It says the "uniformed service" which also means the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – and again for only two years.

The "U.S. military" amnesty argument is bogus for another reason. Illegals are already allowed to enlist in the military and earn citizenship through honorable service to the United States. They don't need the DREAM Act.

And there's more. Current immigration law allows legal migrants to bring in their family members as well. It's called "family reunification." Under the DREAM Act, those who receive the amnesty could then legalize their illegal family members setting off a chain-reaction amnesty.

As WND reported last week, the cost to taxpayers for the "student amnesty" could reach $44 billion. That's because the estimated 2.1 million new "students" (and it will be many more than this administration estimate) qualify for student assistance under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

Republican lawmakers tempted to follow the liberal ethnic group playbook and vote for the DREAM Act to placate Latino radical groups need to look at the actual election results, too.

New Republican Hispanic officeholders were elected campaigning on enforcing the border and against illegal-alien amnesty.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; the new Republican governor of New Mexico, Susana Martinez; and Rep.-elect Republican Francisco Canseco, R-Texas, are among a bumper crop of Hispanic Republicans elected on a pro-legal/anti-illegal immigration platform.

What is needed is a full-body scan of the corrupt connection between radical open-border advocacy groups (and their illegal-alien voter base) and the Democratic Party.

But first start this week by voting noon the nightmare that is the DREAM Act.

Turkey Roasting Times Chart

This chart will help you determine approximately how long to roast stuffed and unstuffed turkey. Always use a meat thermometer to gauge doneness.

Night before wash turkey thoroughly inside and out. Cook neck and packaged meat in pan for later use in stuffing. Dry turkey with paper towels inside and out, do a thorough job.

Spray turkey roasting pan with "Pam"

Line with heavy duty Reynolds Wrap, lengthways and sideways. Place turkey in pan.

Rub a half cube of butter over outer area of bird. Stuff with favorite stuffing.

Cover with outer lengths of Reynolds Wrap. Refrigerate

Next morning, app. 6:00am insert meat thermometer, empty contents of can of Swansons Chicken Broth around base of turkey and place on middle rack in 325* oven.

Place layer of Reynolds Wrap over lower rack to catch any drippings.

For a stuffed turkey, the roasting time may vary up to 30 minutes, depending upon the bird and the oven. Use the meat thermometer to check the temperature of the dressing. The center of the dressing inside the bird (or in a separate baking dish) must reach a temperature of 190 degrees F. for food safety. Place the meat thermometer in the upper chest area, leave there throughout cooking process, will require special thermometer, can be purchased at Wal Mart.

App. 1 to 1 1/2 hours prior to being done unwrap foil from around top of bird and legs and baste every 15 minutes until done. Check to be sure pan contains liquid, this liquid will be used to make your home made turkey gravy when turkey has finished cooking.

For an unstuffed turkey, place the meat thermometer in the thickest part of the thigh, taking care that it does not touch any bone. Roast the turkey until the meat thermometer reaches 180 degrees F.

Roasting times are for a preheated 325 degrees F. oven.

YOU TOOK MY PARKING SPACE AT CHURCH

This

should wake us up.

One

day, a man went to visit a church, He got there

early, parked his car and got out. Another car

pulled up near him and the driver got out and said, " I

always park there! You took my

place!"

The visitor went

inside for Sunday School, found an empty seat

and sat down. A young lady from the church

approached him and stated, "That's my seat! You

took my place!" The visitor was somewhat

distressed by this rude welcome, but said

nothing.

After Sunday School, the visitor

went into the sanctuary and sat down. Another

member walked up to him and said, "That's where

I always sit! You took my place!" The visitor

was even more troubled by this treatment, but

still He said nothing.

Later as the

congregation was praying for Christ to dwell

among them, the visitor stood up, and his

appearance began to change. Horrible scars

became visible on his hands and on his sandaled

feet. Someone from the congregation noticed him

and called out, "What happened to you?" The

visitor replied, as his hat became a crown of

thorns, and a tear fell from his eye, "I took

your place."

When you receive this, say a

prayer. That's all you have to do. There is

nothing attached. Maybe, just maybe, we can get the

world to start thinking of who took our place.

The Triumph of Capitalism over Collectivism

One view of Thanksgiving...

The Real Meaning of Thanksgiving: The Triumph of Capitalism over Collectivism - by Richard M. Ebeling

This time of the year, whether in good economic times or bad, is when Americans gather with their families and friends and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together. It marks a remembrance of those early Pilgrim Fathers who crossed the uncharted ocean from Europe to make a new start in Plymouth, Massachusetts. What is less appreciated is that Thanksgiving also is a celebration of the birth of free enterprise in America.

The English Puritans, who left Great Britain and sailed across the Atlantic on the Mayflower in 1620, were not only escaping from religious persecution in their homeland. They also wanted to turn their back on what they viewed as the materialistic and greedy corruption of the Old World.

In the New World, they wanted to erect a New Jerusalem that would not only be religiously devout, but be built on a new foundation of communal sharing and social altruism. Their goal was the communism of Plato’s Republic, in which all would work and share in common, knowing neither private property nor self-interested acquisitiveness.

What resulted is recorded in the diary of Governor William Bradford, the head of the colony. The colonists collectively cleared and worked land, but they brought forth neither the bountiful harvest they hoped for, nor did it create a spirit of shared and cheerful brotherhood.

The less industrious members of the colony came late to their work in the fields, and were slow and easy in their labors. Knowing that they and their families were to receive an equal share of whatever the group produced, they saw little reason to be more diligent in their efforts. The harder working among the colonists became resentful that their efforts would be redistributed to the more malingering members of the colony. Soon they, too, were coming late to work and were less energetic in the fields.

As Governor Bradford explained in his old English (though with the spelling modernized):

For the young men that were able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children, without recompense. The strong, or men of parts, had no more division of food, clothes, etc. then he that was weak and not able to do a quarter the other could; this was thought injustice. The aged and graver men to be ranked and equalized in labor, and food, clothes, etc. with the meaner and younger sort, thought it some indignant and disrespect unto them. And for men’s wives to be commanded to do service for other men, as dressing their meat, washing their clothes, etc. they deemed it a kind of slavery, neither could husbands brook it.

Because of the disincentives and resentments that spread among the population, crops were sparse and the rationed equal shares from the collective harvest were not enough to ward off starvation and death. Two years of communism in practice had left alive only a fraction of the original number of the Plymouth colonists.

Realizing that another season like those that had just passed would mean the extinction of the entire community, the elders of the colony decided to try something radically different: the introduction of private property rights and the right of the individual families to keep the fruits of their own labor.

As Governor Bradford put it:

And so assigned to every family a parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number for that end . . . This had a very good success; for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted then otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better content. The women now went willingly into the field, and took their little-ones with them to set corn, which before would a ledge weakness, and inability; whom to have compelled would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.

The Plymouth Colony experienced a great bounty of food. Private ownership meant that there was now a close link between work and reward. Industry became the order of the day as the men and women in each family went to the fields on their separate private farms. When the harvest time came, not only did many families produce enough for their own needs, but they had surpluses that they could freely exchange with their neighbors for mutual benefit and improvement.

In Governor Bradford’s words:

By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine, now God gave them plenty, and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many, for which they blessed God. And the effect of their planting was well seen, for all had, one way or other, pretty well to bring the year about, and some of the abler sort and more industrious had to spare, and sell to others, so as any general want or famine hath not been amongst them since to this day.

Hard experience had taught the Plymouth colonists the fallacy and error in the ideas that since the time of the ancient Greeks had promised paradise through collectivism rather than individualism. As Governor Bradford expressed it:

The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years, and that amongst the Godly and sober men, may well convince of the vanity and conceit of Plato’s and other ancients; -- that the taking away of property, and bringing into a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God. For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort.

Was this realization that communism was incompatible with human nature and the prosperity of humanity to be despaired or be a cause for guilt? Not in Governor Bradford’s eyes. It was simply a matter of accepting that altruism and collectivism were inconsistent with the nature of man, and that human institutions should reflect the reality of man’s nature if he is to prosper. Said Governor Bradford:

"Let none object this is man’s corruption, and nothing to the curse itself. I answer, seeing all men have this corruption in them, God in his wisdom saw another course fitter for them."

The desire to “spread the wealth” and for government to plan and regulate people’s lives is as old as the utopian fantasy in Plato’s Republic. The Pilgrim Fathers tried and soon realized its bankruptcy and failure as a way for men to live together in society.

They, instead, accepted man as he is: hardworking, productive, and innovative when allowed the liberty to follow his own interests in improving his own circumstances and that of his family. And even more, out of his industry result the quantities of useful goods that enable men to trade to their mutual benefit.

In the wilderness of the New World, the Plymouth Pilgrims had progressed from the false dream of communism to the sound realism of capitalism. At a time of economic uncertainty, it is worthwhile recalling this beginning of the American experiment and experience with freedom.

This is the lesson of the First Thanksgiving. This year, when we, Americans sit around our dining table with family and friends, we should also remember that what we are really celebrating is the birth of free men and free enterprise in that New World of America.

The true meaning of Thanksgiving, in other words, is the triumph of Capitalism over the failure of Collectivism in all its forms.

Thankless in Obamaland

The economy is sliding badly and the dollar is endangered, TSA's aggressive insistence on harassing American fliers, worldwide chaos
Thankless in Obamaland
By Daniel Greenfield Saturday, November 27, 2010

This is one Thanksgiving weekend which finds Americans with little to be thankful for. The economy is sliding badly and the dollar is endangered, which could potentially wreck the nation’s economy long after Obama is gone. Flying was a more unpleasant experience due to the TSA’s aggressive insistence on harassing American fliers, rather than Muslim terrorists. Then there’s the worldwide chaos, which now threatens to open up a whole new war in Asia.

With a political beating in the midterm elections and a confused administration, even liberals seem to have little to be politically thankful for. But even mentions of Thanksgiving seem inevitably accompanied by historical revisionism which reduces the contact between specific groups of European settlers and certain Indian tribes to a one-sided narrative whose goal is to delegitimize the very existence of the United States. Everyone from PETA to indigenous activists to Michelle Obama’s fat insanity has tried to have a go at it.

Thanksgiving is problematic for many on the left because it provides a positive view of American settlement and the interaction between European settlers and Native Americans. Which is why liberals will try to subvert the story of Thanksgiving by depicting the settlers negatively. This is almost universally common on television nowadays. And for those activists obsessed with what people eat, Thanksgiving with its obligatory heavy turkey dinner, is also a major target. So we get HRH Michelle Obama telling Americans what they can and can’t eat for dinner. The difference is that Americans eat their own food. Unlike Michelle and her husband who eat at taxpayer expense.

The protests over the TSA have also failed to lead to a serious dialogue about what we should be doing to fight terrorism. Instead junk catchphrases and people stripping to their underwear while flying have turned media coverage of the situation into a series of running gags. Drudge forced media coverage of the backlash, but he steered it into freakshow areas. The media responded by running stories to pick up some of the traffic, but the stories they ran were more about the publicity stunts, while their above board coverage defended the Obama Administration and the TSA. It’s a ridiculous situation when people can Tweet that they’re going to fly in their underwear and get major news organizations to go and film them, that does nothing to address the problem. Instead it quickly leads to viewer fatigue and disinterest. And that means the policies will stay in place.

Too much of the backlash has focused on what people don’t want, rather than what they do want. That has allowed the Obama Administration to frame it as a choice between security and privacy. When it’s actually a choice between good security and bad security. That isn’t entirely accidental. Too much of the coverage was led by sources who don’t think that there even is such a thing as terrorism. Drudge and other blogs linked to content from 9/11 Truther Alex Jones and Prison Planet. This was Jones’ most successful effort to embed himself among conservatives to date. For those such as Jones or Ron Paul, there is no terrorism. The whole thing is a government conspiracy. The way they fed the story, was the way it got told. And an opportunity to actually reform airline security was missed.

And so what should have been an upbeat time, a harvest festival and a reunion with friends and family, instead is tinted in haze. And that seems par for the course under Obama.

In the UK there’s controversy over radical left faux artist Banksy’s gallery promoting a picture of the 7/7 bombing by Mark Sinckler, a Muslim who moved from metro vandalism to poorly done collages. All the attention paid to this just means mission accomplished for Banksy, who has successfully ridden and ridiculed an art world, where the only coin that matters is notoriety, not talent.

The entire thing is hopelessly cynical. Sinckler’s Age of Shiva is a cynical parody of British sensibilities over the 7/7 massacre. Cynically marketed by Banksy’s Marks and Stencils gallery, which was also set up to mock art galleries and public sensibilities, it’s the work of emotionally dead people who believe that by mocking everything that other people value, they remain above it. As always the joke is on the average person, the bourgeois, the same type of person who was riding a bus when it was blown up.

The controversy will move up Banksy and Sinckler further up the ladder. The careers of both derive from vandalism and end there. First vandalism of public spaces and then vandalism of public faith and public values.

Meanwhile in Israel, Netanyahu once again finds himself in another Wye situation, caught between signing on to what Obama wants and betraying his country, or resisting and standing up to Obama. It’s not a pleasant situation to be in. Last time around Netanyahu failed the test when he gave in to Clinton. It seems as if he may be failing it again this time. (Latma has their usual scathing take on it.)

Meanwhile Turkey’s Islamist thug Erdogan “the minarets are our bayonets” is at it again, amping up the rhetoric and threatening war. This after the latest document releases suggest that Erdogan’s Turkey helped Al Qaeda. This shouldn’t be too much of a shock as Erdogan’s AKP party has Al Qaeda ties. Which shouldn’t be shocking either, as it’s funded by Saudi money.

Erdogan’s “Support Hezbollah” visit to Lebanon was met with Armenian riots. In the past Erdogan had threatened to ethnically cleanse Armenians from Turkey. (hap tip Joshua Ivens)

Erdogan is now making common cause with Islamic terrorists and he’s sabotaging Turkey’s ties to Israel and America, in order to fulfill his goal of integrating it with the Muslim world. In particularly those Middle Eastern countries which have funded his takeover of the media by his business partners and political allies. Ranting about standing up to Israel with “Allah’s Grace” shows how low Turkey has fallen from a formerly secular country that understood that the greatest threat to Turkish nationalism came from Islam.

His trip to Lebanon was full of that kind of Caliphate prep work, for example

“although we are talking different languages in this vast geography, we should not forget that we have one history, one culture and similar values. We have given a shape the history together. Be sure that we will give a shape to the future altogether.

Erdogan said Turkey mutually removed visa requirements with Syria, Lebanon, Libya and Jordan. “We have not lost anything or met any problem. On the contrary, when we removed the visa requirements, we clearly saw that they were meaningless. We have not removed the visa requirements; we have removed a century old yearning among our people.”

Whether Turks are actually yearning to import crime and unskilled labor from the Arab world is debatable, but that doesn’t really matter. What it means is that if Turkey joins the EU, Muslim terrorists and criminals from across the Arab world will have no trouble getting in.

Erdogan then proposed an Islamic EU, a Schengen, to bridge the gap to the Caliphate.

Via Desert Conservative, an interesting piece on a forgotten massive pre 9/11 terrorist plot in Canada.

Toronto’s terror plot of 1991 (pre September 11) has been forgotten and become a lost memory to Canadians.

The terror plot was planned by five black Muslims who were followers of Jamaat Al Fuqra, a Pakistani movement. They were acquitted of planning to kill 4,500 people within two buildings in Toronto. The attacks were to be done one after the other.

At the time of the attack, it was seen as an isolated case but now after a series of planned attacks in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto it has been associated with a series of attacks by Islamist terrorists.

Just two years before the first World Trade Centre bombing, and a decade before the 9/11 attacks Toronto was the potential terror plot destination of North America where thousands of people would have died had the terrorists not been on the radar beforehand.

The terror plot was set to blow out during the Hindu festival of Diwali at two separate locations one after the other. The first spot was the India Centre cinema on Gerrard Street with a 500 people capacity (most commonly occupied by Sikhs and Hindus) and the second spot was the Vishnu Hindu Temple, which has a capacity of 4000 (occupied by Hindus) in Richmond Hill.

What is disturbing about this is not just the scale of the planned attacks, but a reminder that Muslim ethnic cleansing and racism is being exported by Muslim immigrants and converts. The Muslim world has committed genocide against non-Muslims numerous times. And it’s at it again in Europe and in Canada.

In the roundup, Phyllis Chesler tackles the PA’s latest attempt to Islamize the world’s holiest Jewish site.

The Muslims (not the Islamists, but the Muslims) mean to take over every Jewish site in Jewish Israel. And the United Nations means to assist them.

Long before a sovereign Jewish state ever existed, Muslims massacred the Jews of Hevron in 1929. Surviving Jews returned, but were then forced to flee again during the Arab Revolt of 1936-1939. This burial chamber of our Jewish ancestors is a cave whose purchase is carefully and exhaustively reported in the fifth parasha (portion) of the Torah. According to Jewish religious sources, this purchase took place in approximately 1677 BCE.

Please remember: In 1929, when the Muslims massacred the Jews of Hevron, there were no Jewish “settlements” in “occupied Palestinian land.” There was no Muslim “Palestine” and no sovereign Jewish state. In 1996, under the Wye Accords, Jewish Israel surrendered most Jewish access to this Cave to the Waqf.

Today, Jews can pray there in an outer, small chamber only under heavy guard and only a few times a year in the main prayer chamber. Muslims took the lion’s share of the main prayer hall because, as they claim, Abraham is also their forefather.

Of course if Abraham were around today, he’d be boycotted in London and beheaded in Gaza.

The whole thing still reminds me of my old post, “Muslims announce 5 New Holy Sites”. Considering that this was written in Feb of 2007, a day after Obama announced he was running, one section proved to be unfortunately prescient.

The White House

Mohammed HTFBUH (High Tax Fees Be Upon Him) reportedly visited the White House as a guest of President Millard Fillmore, slept in the Lincoln Bedroom (which was then called, the ‘Give Me A Bribe and You Can Spend the Night Bedroom) and tried to molest some of the President’s carriage horses.

As such the highest authorities in Islam (three blind clerics who live in Cairo and still think it’s 1922 and want an end to British colonial rule) have announced that the White House from now is to be off-limits to non-Muslims unless they’re there to serve incoming President, Barack Hussein Obama.

Elder of Ziyon does some fact checking of the language being used about the Temple Mount.

Israel Matzav asks about the Tea Party position regarding Israel. Using a New York Times article as a starting point is always a bad idea. Since we’re talking about a grass roots movement composed of different organizations, there’s no official position. But demographically most of the Tea Party people are conservative and opposed to Muslim terrorism. Its focus is on domestic, not international politics.

The Times uses Rand Paul as a prototype of a Tea Party candidate, which is a terrible idea, because he doesn’t have all that much in common on many issues with actual TP candidates. Paul, like his father, is basically a secessionist and conspiracy theorist, who shares the left’s view on national security issues. It’s doubtful that he could have won under a Republican President. But under Obama, enough people have been willing to overlook the things he’s said, like comparing the US Army to Hitler.

Compare Paul to Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman, Mark Rubio, etc and you see the huge gap opening up.

The American Thinker has an interesting piece by James Lewis, who views the entire TSA mess as part of a racist revenge fantasy by Obama. I don’t know that I agree with him. I don’t believe that this is a plan, but the disdain with which complaints have been met, may be. That makes it more of a Shirley Sherrod situation, in which the situation itself is not created out of racism, but the neglect of those who are suffering and the favorable treatment meted out on the basis of race is. This has been a too common pattern in government. But it’s been practiced more commonly by white liberals, than by black people. But Obama may arguably fall into the former category, as much as into the latter one.

Finally on the Thanksgiving theme, http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-11-24/thanksgiving-history/?cid=blogunit, the Daily Beast has some interesting historical background for the origins of the holiday.

We can also restore the meaning of early Thanksgivings in New England by coming at it from another angle, equally authentic. We find it in Judaism and the Hebrew scriptures.

If you were English, and you wished to express gratitude to God, you would turn to one majestic Biblical text before any other. It speaks about the wilderness of the Sinai, about danger and deliverance, about the journey of the Israelites across the Red Sea, and about the duty to give thanks when the exodus is complete. The text is Psalm 107. In the reign of Elizabeth I, when the realm survived a plot, a plague, or the Spanish Armada, her subjects went to church and gave thanks to the Almighty, using the same psalm: “We will offer unto him the sacrifice of Thanksgiving: and tell out his works with gladness.”

So at Provincetown, when the Mayflower first dropped anchor in 1620, the Pilgrims did likewise. For them, the psalm possessed a still deeper resonance. Keen scholars of Hebrew, which they saw as the original language of God, the Pilgrims knew that Psalm 107 was the source of the Jewish thanksgiving prayer, the birkat ha-gomel. They owned books by an English scholar, Henry Ainsworth, who used the Jewish philosopher Maimonides to show that this was so. The birkat ha-gomel was the prayer that every devout Jew should say, upon safe arrival after a dangerous voyage. The Pilgrims said it too.

And so in New England the Pilgrims took a variety of sources, and over time they blended them together to create their early Thanksgivings. Their successors did the same. They said Thanksgiving psalms like Jews, sometimes they fasted and sometimes they ate and drank, and like their British cousins they puffed themselves up with national pride. Centuries later, Americans ended up with a hybrid of Elizabethan patriotism, Algonquian fun, and a dash of non-denominational piety. In other words: the modern Thanksgiving. All you need add is Psalm 107, to make the event sublime.

Climate Deception Is A Crime Against Humanity

Cost of the delusion that human CO2 is causing climate change, falsified data, practiced inaccurate and inadequate science, unnecessary and harmful policies
Climate Deception Is A Crime Against Humanity?
By Dr. Tim Ball Thursday, November 25, 2010
The number of malefactors authorizes not the crime. Thomas Fuller (1608—1661)

How can they get away with such incredible arrogance and deception? Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres of the UN Framework Convention on Climate (UNFCC) said “Let me be clear - there is no magic bullet, no one climate agreement that will solve everything right now,” “To expect that is naive. However, I am certain the world can do this step by step, but only if we keep on walking firmly in the right direction, including at Cancun.” She is talking about stopping or controlling climate change. Clearly Ms. Figueres knows nothing about climate science or doesn’t want to know.

There is nothing to solve except how the world was deceived that humans are the sole cause of climate change and therefore it can be controlled. It’s a delusion of modern, technologically, and bureaucratically arrogant people. She should know the cost of the delusion that human CO2 is causing climate change has produced. How people are being subjected to serious social and economic harm that borders on atrocities. Maybe her degree in anthropology would help her resolve this and other resulting issues. Maybe she could explain how a group of people who falsified data, practiced inaccurate and inadequate science, convinced governments to introduce completely unnecessary and harmful policies, and fooled the Nobel Committee into giving them a Peace Prize. To call what they did a contribution to peace is an intellectual farce. But it is not a farce to consider that it appears to fit the definition of Crimes against Humanity. Mass atrocities are organized crimes whose perpetrators need money, weapons, transportation, and other means to commit widespread and systematic violence against civilians. A country, commercial entity, or individual enables mass atrocities when it provides resources, goods, services, or other practical support to the perpetrator, and when this support is a critical ingredient in the commission of the atrocities.

The Deadly Silent Majority
People at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU), participants in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore are directly responsible but they only succeed with the silence of the majority. Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” But who is included as “good” in his definition? Surely if they do nothing, they are not good. Why are whistleblower laws necessary to protect people who identify malfeasance and illegality? The world was deceived about CO2 and climate change because too many good people did nothing. Worse, they viciously attacked the few who dared to speak out. There is a debate raging about generalizations. The claim is you cannot condemn an entire group because of the actions of a few individuals. Yes you can, and must, because if the group do not condemn then their silence is unspoken support for what is happening.

Because of the deliberate deception and vigorous propaganda that CO2 was causing warming actions were demanded and pursued. Completely unnecessary and devastating policies were implemented. We’re wasting billions on climate change programs and alternate energy programs. Nations who pursued green energy and jobs policies are in serious financial problems. Nations like Britain and regions like Ontario Canada or California that abandoned or failed to update traditional energy sources, including nuclear, will have inadequate power supplies for many years to come. The cost of everything, especially food, has soared and will continue to rise. Industries have closed and more are threatened as draconian restrictions on carbon production are introduced. Other industries have evolved simply because of government subsidies. They are not sustainable and will fail when subsidies end. A hint of this is provided by the impending expiry of biofuels subsidies.

Steve McIntyre provided valuable evidence of the corruption in climate science when he identified the misuse of data and statistics in the graph dubbed “the hockey stick.” He refuses to say the errors and actions taken by Michael Mann and his associates were deliberate despite overwhelming evidence. He distances himself from those more forceful in identifying their actions as deliberate.

He claims, “CA (Climate Audit) readers know that I express myself carefully and try to make my opinions as narrow and precise as possible.”

The problem is when he had opportunities to speak out, even in a narrow way he failed. At the hearing chaired by Congressman Joe Barton of Texas, he was upstaged by Mann. It’s reasonable to consider errors genuine or a result of ignorance. However, the consideration must include all the factors involved. How many errors are necessary before a pattern emerges? If the person was unaware of the error, it means they are incompetent anyway? Fortunately, in reporting to Barton’s Committee the Wegman Committee showed more gumption. They identified the scientific errors and the social dynamics of the small group who controlled publications and the peer review process of climate science. Now Wegman is under attack accused of plagiarism in the ongoing effort to personally discredit anyone who identifies the criminality of Mann’s actions and those who were associated with him. Climategate exists because of the corruption.

Failure of people to pursue the crimes committed by those involved with Climategate has emboldened them and their supporters to launch a claim to being the aggrieved parties. They can only do this because the leaders have whitewashed their actions. Continuations of the fiascos that are the UNFCC, the IPCC and the WMO filled with people who only work to perpetuate themselves mean it is increasingly urgent for the people to identify them as accessories after the fact. To co-opt an idea from the environmental movement, we must act locally by demanding accountability of national weather and climate agencies. Many of them are tacitly acknowledging culpability by investigating their data sources and management. (Sources here and here)

They Admit It Has Nothing To Do With Facts
The climate debacle has some frightening bookends. Stephen Schneider set the tone when he was quoted in Discovery magazine (October 1989) that scientist’s need, “to get some broader based support, to capture the public’s imagination…that, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts we may have…each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective, and being honest.” The last sentence is deeply disturbing—there is no decision required.

Melanie Phillips reports CRU member Mike Hulme restating Schneider’s views recently. “Global warming, he claimed, was an example of ‘post-normal science’ which did not seek to establish the truth through evidence. Instead, truth had to be traded for influence. In areas of uncertainty, scientists had to present their beliefs instead as a basis for policy.”

Phillips comments, “It was an admission that, in the name of science, scientific reason had been junked altogether to promote mere ideological conviction. That is the real message of ‘Climategate’.”

True, but it’s much more. It’s an admission that the world was deliberately deceived. They succeeded because they attacked those who dared to question. They got away with it because experts who knew about serious problems kept quiet. They got away with it because nobody added up the total cost and human impact. They’ve been allowed to “commit widespread and systematic violence against civilians,” therefore the climate deception is a crime against humanity.

out of the pantry and into the light of the refrigerator.
Our 15th year on the Web.

SINKIE DAY!
Every year, the day after Thanksgiving
(Friday, November 25, 2011)

Christmas shopping and Thanksgiving leftovers provide the perfect reasons to enjoy a quick meal. It's the day many people discover the benefits of becoming a SINKIE and go on to many years of dining with a view overlooking the water.

Eating and snacking over the kitchen sink.
Millions of people around the world have been enjoying this casual dining style for many years.

Their casual dining style can also include standing in front of their open refrigerators, rummaging around the leftovers, taking inventory of the contents.

Drinking milk straight from the carton.

Eating on the run.

Grabbing a jelly doughnut, while racing out the door in the morning, late for work.

Dashboard dining in the car.

Having a desk lunch of M&Ms and Diet Pepsi from the vending machines in the break room.

IN OTHER WORDS, IF IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH HAVING A QUICK BITE, IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH BEING A SINKIE.

All of us at Sinkie Dot Com have been standing at our kitchen sinks since 1991 and we’re beginning to get a little weak in the knees. Therefore, we’ve decided to take what we believe is a well-deserved break.

In the meantime,

Bon Appétit!

Also, we’re considering the possibility of putting our organization, including our website, on the market.

Experts: Mystery contrail was from Chinese missile
'Muted response' was decision 'made by the president himself'

Contrail was recorded in this image by KCBS-KCAL in California

Although the U.S. Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command have speculated publicly that the unidentified contrail of a projectile soaring into the skies off the California coast – and recorded by a KCBS television crew – came from a jet and posed no security threat to the U.S., several experts are raising provocative and disturbing questions about the government's official response, reports Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

Two governmental military experts with extensive experience working with missiles and computer security systems have examined the television video and conclude the mysterious contrail originating some 30 miles off the coast near Los Angeles did not come from a jet – but rather, they say the exhaust and the billowing plume emanated from a single source nozzle of a missile, probably made in China.

They further suggest the missile was fired from a submerged Chinese nuclear submarine off America's coast, and point out that the timing of the alleged Chinese missile shot coincided with an increasing confrontation between the U.S. and China, and was likely meant to send a message to Washington.

Indeed, the Federal Aviation Administration documents that there were no aircraft flying in the area at that time, the night of Nov. 8.

"The question that still must be answered is why NORAD's muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail," said retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jim Cash.

A former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and commander of an F-15 squadron and an F-16 wing, Cash was assigned to NORAD as an assistant director of operations at the Cheyenne Mountain complex near Colorado Springs, Colo., and is fully knowledgeable of NORAD procedures.

"There is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general in minutes, and passed to the president immediately," he said.

Even more ominously, cautioned Cash: "We must question the timing of this shot across our bow. The president was abroad being diplomatic, which means trying to placate China which is becoming overly concerned with our handling a totally out-of-control deficit in spending."

Wayne Madsen, a former naval officer who has worked at the National Security Agency and the Naval Data Automation Command, said the inability to pick up what he described as a Chinese Jin-class submarine-launched ballistic missile isn't the first time U.S. Navy anti-submarine warfare sensors have failed.

Madsen, who today is an investigative journalist, said the Pentagon is working "overtime with the media and on the Internet to cover up the latest debacle. However, even some reporters who cover the Pentagon full-time are beginning to question the Pentagon's version of events ... over the skies west of Los Angeles."

Dr. Lyle J. Rapacki of Sentinel Intelligence Services, LLC, said the contrail incident off the Los Angeles coast is "fraught with peril" due to the defense systems and protocols in place that should have detected the alleged submarine.

"The decision to officially announce that North America was not threatened," he said, "and all the excitement was due to an aircraft leaving a contrail is a decision that reaches beyond the four-star general level and goes directly to a decision made by the commander-in-chief."

G2Bulletin calls to the Pentagon and NORAD for comment beyond previous official statements were not returned.

THE DREAM AND THE MESSAGE

Michael Savage

I HAD A DREAM THAT IS SO PROPHETIC I KNOW WHY I WAS PUT ON THE AIR AND WHY THIS BOOK -- "TRICKLE UP POVERTY" -- IS A RAGING BEST-SELLER. I DREAMED I WAS IN SOME SORT OF AN ADULT CLASSROOM, AND A WOMAN, A VERY CHATTY WOMAN TEACHER, WAS TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT MAO TSE TUNG HAD BEEN. HOW HE HAD BUILT STEPS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND TUNNELS THROUGH MOUNTAINS AND MARCHED ACROSS CHINA, AND WHAT A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT IT WAS, AND WHAT GREAT FORTITUDE HE HAD, AND WHAT GREAT VISION HE HAD. AND ONE MAN STOOD UP, A MIDDLE-AGED BE-SPECTACLED MAN STOOD UP AND STARTED TO CLAP AND SAY GREAT, HE WAS A GREAT MAN, HE WAS WONDERFUL.

AND IN THE DREAM I SCREAMED OUT "SIT DOWN YOU BASTARD, HE WAS A CHINESE HITLER -- HE KILLED SIXTY MILLION OF HIS OWN FELLOW COUNTRYMEN." AND THE MAN KEPT CLAPPING AND THE TEACHER TRIED TO ADMONISH ME. AND THE TEACHER SAID "NO, NO YOU CAN’T YELL OUT IN THE CLASS, THAT’S NOT RIGHT, THAT’S NOT WHAT HAPPENED." AND I SAID IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT MAO TSE TUNG ACTUALLY DID, I SAID YOU’RE NOT QUALIFIED TO BE A TEACHER. AND THAT WAS THE END OF THE DREAM.

WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH BARACK OBAMA? I BELIEVE BARACK OBAMA IS A DISCIPLE OF MAO TSE TUNG. NOW WHY DO I SAY THAT? I SAY IT BECAUSE HE HIRED ONE MAOIST AFTER ANOTHER, INCLUDING ANITA DUNN, WHO HE HAD TO FIRE WHEN SHE GLORIFIED MAO TSE TUNG. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW DANGEROUS THIS MAN IS. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW DANGEROUS HIS DISCIPLES ARE, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT LURKS UNDERNEATH THE SHADOWS OF THIS MAN AND HIS MINIONS. AND I’M GOING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING, I WAS PUT HERE TO ALERT AMERICA AND THE WORLD TO THE DANGERS OF THIS FALSE MESSIAH. MICHAEL SAVAGE WAS PUT HERE TO GIVE AMERICA MY MANIFESTO –– “TRICKLE UP POVERTY.”

The 'Israelification' of airports: High security, little bother

The 'Israelification' of airports: High security, little bother

While North America's airports groan under the weight of another sea-change in security protocols, one word keeps popping out of the mouths of experts: Israelification.

That is, how can we make our airports more like Israel's, which deal with far greater terror threat with far less inconvenience.

"It is mindboggling for us Israelis to look at what happens in North America, because we went through this 50 years ago," said Rafi Sela, the president of AR Challenges, a global transportation security consultancy. He's worked with the RCMP, the U.S. Navy Seals and airports around the world.

"Israelis, unlike Canadians and Americans, don't take s--- from anybody. When the security agency in Israel (the ISA) started to tighten security and we had to wait in line for — not for hours — but 30 or 40 minutes, all hell broke loose here. We said, 'We're not going to do this. You're going to find a way that will take care of security without touching the efficiency of the airport."

That, in a nutshell is "Israelification" - a system that protects life and limb without annoying you to death.

Fliers urged to opt out of airport security en masse

Despite facing dozens of potential threats each day, the security set-up at Israel's largest hub, Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, has not been breached since 2002, when a passenger mistakenly carried a handgun onto a flight. How do they manage that?

"The first thing you do is to look at who is coming into your airport," said Sela.

The first layer of actual security that greets travellers at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport is a roadside check. All drivers are stopped and asked two questions: How are you? Where are you coming from?

"Two benign questions. The questions aren't important. The way people act when they answer them is," Sela said.

Officers are looking for nervousness or other signs of "distress" — behavioural profiling. Sela rejects the argument that profiling is discriminatory.

"The word 'profiling' is a political invention by people who don't want to do security," he said. "To us, it doesn't matter if he's black, white, young or old. It's just his behaviour. So what kind of privacy am I really stepping on when I'm doing this?"

Once you've parked your car or gotten off your bus, you pass through the second and third security perimeters.

Armed guards outside the terminal are trained to observe passengers as they move toward the doors, again looking for odd behaviour. At Ben Gurion's half-dozen entrances, another layer of security are watching. At this point, some travellers will be randomly taken aside, and their person and their luggage run through a magnometer.

"This is to see that you don't have heavy metals on you or something that looks suspicious," said Sela.

You are now in the terminal. As you approach your airline check-in desk, a trained interviewer takes your passport and ticket. They ask a series of questions: Who packed your luggage? Has it left your side?

"The whole time, they are looking into your eyes — which is very embarrassing. But this is one of the ways they figure out if you are suspicious or not. It takes 20, 25 seconds," said Sela.

Lines are staggered. People are not allowed to bunch up into inviting targets for a bomber who has gotten this far.

At the check-in desk, your luggage is scanned immediately in a purpose-built area. Sela plays devil's advocate — what if you have escaped the attention of the first four layers of security, and now try to pass a bag with a bomb in it?

"I once put this question to Jacques Duchesneau (the former head of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority): say there is a bag with play-doh in it and two pens stuck in the play-doh. That is 'Bombs 101' to a screener. I asked Ducheneau, 'What would you do?' And he said, 'Evacuate the terminal.' And I said, 'Oh. My. God.'

"Take Pearson. Do you know how many people are in the terminal at all times? Many thousands. Let's say I'm (doing an evacuation) without panic — which will never happen. But let's say this is the case. How long will it take? Nobody thought about it. I said, 'Two days.'"

A screener at Ben-Gurion has a pair of better options.

First, the screening area is surrounded by contoured, blast-proof glass that can contain the detonation of up to 100 kilos of plastic explosive. Only the few dozen people within the screening area need be removed, and only to a point a few metres away.

Second, all the screening areas contain 'bomb boxes'. If a screener spots a suspect bag, he/she is trained to pick it up and place it in the box, which is blast proof. A bomb squad arrives shortly and wheels the box away for further investigation.

"This is a very small simple example of how we can simply stop a problem that would cripple one of your airports," Sela said.

Five security layers down: you now finally arrive at the only one which Ben-Gurion Airport shares with Pearson — the body and hand-luggage check.

"But here it is done completely, absolutely 180 degrees differently than it is done in North America," Sela said.

"First, it's fast — there's almost no line. That's because they're not looking for liquids, they're not looking at your shoes. They're not looking for everything they look for in North America. They just look at you," said Sela. "Even today with the heightened security in North America, they will check your items to death. But they will never look at you, at how you behave. They will never look into your eyes ... and that's how you figure out the bad guys from the good guys."

That's the process — six layers, four hard, two soft. The goal at Ben-Gurion is to move fliers from the parking lot to the airport lounge in a maximum of 25 minutes.

This doesn't begin to cover the off-site security net that failed so spectacularly in targeting would-be Flight 253 bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab — intelligence. In Israel, Sela said, a coordinated intelligence gathering operation produces a constantly evolving series of threat analyses and vulnerability studies.

"There is absolutely no intelligence and threat analysis done in Canada or the United States," Sela said. "Absolutely none."

But even without the intelligence, Sela maintains, Abdulmutallab would not have gotten past Ben Gurion Airport's behavioural profilers.

So. Eight years after 9/11, why are we still so reactive, so un-Israelified?

Working hard to dampen his outrage, Sela first blames our leaders, and then ourselves.

"We have a saying in Hebrew that it's much easier to look for a lost key under the light, than to look for the key where you actually lost it, because it's dark over there. That's exactly how (North American airport security officials) act," Sela said. "You can easily do what we do. You don't have to replace anything. You have to add just a little bit — technology, training. But you have to completely change the way you go about doing airport security. And that is something that the bureaucrats have a problem with. They are very well enclosed in their own concept."

And rather than fear, he suggests that outrage would be a far more powerful spur to provoking that change.

"Do you know why Israelis are so calm? We have brutal terror attacks on our civilians and still, life in Israel is pretty good. The reason is that people trust their defence forces, their police, their response teams and the security agencies. They know they're doing a good job. You can't say the same thing about Americans and Canadians. They don't trust anybody," Sela said. "But they say, 'So far, so good'. Then if something happens, all hell breaks loose and you've spent eight hours in an airport. Which is ridiculous. Not justifiable

"But, what can you do? Americans and Canadians are nice people and they will do anything because they were told to do so and because they don't know any different."

One Nation, Apathetic, Under Big Brother

One Nation, Apathetic, Under Big Brother

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to believe the creeping hand of the government might one day control even the most basic of our day-to-day actions.

It starts with something seemingly small. Something like the federal ban on ordinary incandescent bulbs. Citing the likes of global warming and greenhouse gases, the feds aim to have all traditional light bulbs extinct by 2014.

That's no big deal, right? We'll all just use those curly, energy-saving bulbs...

Then, the government begins to float ideas - then actual bills - having to do with a kill switch for the World Wide Web.

Article at the Huffington Post > http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/25/internet-kill-switch-appr_n_625856.html

Shades of China, anyone? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_the_People

This wouldn't be quite as disconcerting if we didn't have a President of the United States saying things like this:

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said in the summer of 2008. Watch the video clip HERE > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXIvmJ8xenc

If only the American people weren't so apathetic...and if only CSPAN was as exciting and flashy as ESPN...we wouldn't be facing a rapid decline of civil liberties.

And it's funny - on a side note - that the leftist wackos supposedly so concerned about civil liberties are just concerned about wiretapping terrorist sleeper cells... But we digress.

So... How soon can we expect the feds to control our thermostats? It may sound like an outlandish statement, but we'll be sighing with nostalgia 20 years from now when we are hogtied from keeping our houses crisp in the summer and toasty in the winter.

Don't think the government will reach into our personal space? It already begun. Some places have banned smoking in your own car.

The whole country will attempt to control your salt intake.

Evidently we're too dumb to control it ourselves...

You'll also be limited to what the kind of car you drive... From United Press International:

"Starting in 2012, automakers will be required to improve average fuel efficiency in their fleets by 5 percent every year through 2016, pushing mileage to an average 34.1 miles per gallon by the end of the initiative." Story HERE >
http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2010/04/01/Government-bumps-mileage-standards/UPI-70431270145992/

We sure hope you like Smart Cars and Priuses...

That brings up to the Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, pushing for a technology ban - nationwide and en masse - to disable cell phone use in your car:

"There's a lot of technology out there now that can disable phones and we're looking at that," said LaHood on MSNBC. LaHood said the cell phone scramblers were one way, and also stressed the importance of "personal responsibility." Watch the video HERE > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWsvaaqpvUY&feature=player_embedded

Folks. This is a man from President Obama's Cabinet. This isn't some analyst or liberal blogger... This message is being conveyed directly from the government.

So, what will happen? We'll all be forced to use OnStar? OnStar, ironically, is installed in all newer General Motors cars... General Motors, ironically enough, is owned by the U.S. government....

Seems the road is being paved for the government to marionette our world in the automobile.

Seems the road is being paved for the government to marionette everything.

The change that matters most comes from a schoolboy
By Judi McLeod Monday, November 15, 2010
CFP

The sincere tears of a patriotic child on Monday, November 15, 2010 eclipsed most of the politics-as-usual morning news. On an average but no longer not-so-ordinary school day, the news from Denair, Stanislaus County, Ca, eclipsed even the recent hurtful comments of a president about his own country. And totally eclipsed those unkind cuts against America on the president’s second day back from a mega-million-dollar Asian trip.

A schoolboy made manifest American’s growing unease with the anti-American style coming from the White House, moving the punishment of schoolboy patriotism up to the front burner.

While in India, the president seemed almost gleeful that America is losing its status in the world. Today in front of his school, 13-year-old Cody Alicea was anything but gleeful that love for Old Glory is being challenged by politically correct times.

Cody Alicea is average in the way of youngsters whose parents instill in them love for God, country and family.

Never in his wildest dreams did Cody imagine he would ever be escorted to school by war veteran bikers, some from out of state, proudly displaying the American flag.

But then neither did Cody think that after two months of flying the flag on the back of his bicycle that he would be ordered by school authorities one day after Veteran’s Day to remove it—even though Cody, like many other youngsters in his age group, must attend class in a school system fraught with Marxist indoctrination.

This was not to be just another flag flap an apology and time could erase from public conscience.

Cody led a parade in his honour from the center of his hometown of Denair this morning to his middle school campus, where he was joined by supporters who recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the national anthem.

In the end not only did Cody with his proud flag ride into American hearts, he held up what so many paid for with their lives and what so many left will always continue to hold dear.

Let it be recorded that change in America comes not from a politician, but from a 13-year-old boy whose love for his country is like Old Glory itself, bravely unwavering

Rising Food Prices Threaten Obama’s Political Base

The Obama Administration is riddled with people who were either members of the Club of Rome or accept their doctrine
Rising Food Prices Threaten Obama’s Political Base

When you concentrate on agriculture and industry and are frugal in expenditures, Heaven cannot impoverish your state. Xun Zi (312-230 B.C)

The Obama administration incurred the wrath of US voters in a mid-term election designed by the Founding Fathers to prevent demagoguery or changes unwelcome by the majority. It worked because Republicans were elected in enough numbers to challenge and at least slow down the policies. Obama claims his policies, such as health care, taxation, and financial stimulus are designed to help middle and lower income people. He will undoubtedly continue them. However, as Time magazine cutely explained, “Yes, we can” has collided with “Oh no you don’t.” And the future — including the 2012 presidential election — starts right now.”

This diverted from a growing problem that will hurt Obama’s political base more than any other segment of society.

Politicians battled over social issues and allowed the economy to spiral out of control while a series of events were pushing food prices higher and higher. It affects everyone, but hurts the middle and lower income the most. Historically it’s the issue that brought governments to their knees. Communist governments failed to feed the people. Lenin’s New Economic policy that allowed peasants to own small plots of land was introduced within 7 years of the Revolution as collectivization failed. It was a major reason for Gorbachev abandoning communism. As Thomas Jefferson said, “Agriculture, manufacturers, commerce and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise.”

Graffiti on the walls of Pompeii reportedly says about politicians, if we get rid of this bunch of scoundrels we just get another bunch of scoundrels. People have always tolerated incredibly bad leaders and governments. They grumble, but rarely revolt. So what causes uprisings? The usual catalyst is a failure of the food supply. Ceremonies in all societies, from rain dances among North American aborigines to Inca bloodletting by the leaders, were designed to ensure the harvest. Catholic fasting during Lent was a brilliant use of the fact food was in short supply as winter supplies exhausted and the new harvest was not in. Religious reward for what was inevitable is a political masterpiece.

You can summarize human history in one word, hunger
You can summarize human history in one word, hunger. Most people were malnourished or starving. A Pompeii epitaph says the owner is finally free from hunger. British rioters carried flags that said Bread or Blood in the famines caused by the year with no summer in 1816. Corn Laws introduced in Britain and other European countries were a government control to counteract excessive gouging because of short supply. Some say Scrooge was a ”meal man” or grain dealer. Life history’s of Pharaohs that line the walls of their tombs invariably glorify their ability to feed the people. The tomb of Ankhtifl reports the earliest known great famine between 2180 and 2130 BC; “All Upper Egypt was dying of hunger, to such a degree that everyone had come to eating his children, but I managed that no one died of hunger in this district. I made a loan of grain to Upper Egypt… I kept alive the house of Elephantine during those years.” (Source: H.H. Lamb, “Climate, Present, Past and Future.” 1977.)

Harvest failures triggered the French Revolution in 1789
There’s always the conflict between rich and poor, such as between the peasants and aristocrats in 18th century France. Consecutive years of bad weather in 1787 and 1788 caused harvest failures that triggered the French Revolution in 1789. Growing unrest began with the devastating effects on agriculture of the eruption of Laki in Iceland in 1783. Benjamin Franklin predicted the impact because he witnessed the eruption while crossing the Atlantic. A combination of poor harvests and bad government policies pushed supplies dangerously low and prices unbearably high. After the harsh winter of 1788 the Revolution began with storming of the Bastille in July 1789 before the new harvest came in.

Agricultural Revolution, Industrial Revolution
Everyone knows about the Industrial Revolution but few know an Agricultural Revolution preceded it. The ability to produce surplus food allowed people to move to the cities and work in the burgeoning industrial economy.

It’s the foundation of civilizations; surplus food creates surplus time to develop a civilization. One definition holds that it is, an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry, and government has been reached. Europe and North America saw a shift of the population until now approximately 82 percent are urban, 18 percent rural with only 2 percent farmers. A similar transition is occurring very rapidly in China and putting a great strain on the economy.

The evolving food situation is a combination of factors with poor weather a part.

In less than a year the foolish policies to encourage biofuels quickly drove corn prices through the roof and caused starvation in developing nations
Food prices are easily affected because global supplies barely lurch from year to year. In less than a year the foolish policies to encourage biofuels quickly drove corn prices through the roof and caused starvation in developing nations. Last winter, I spoke to farmers across western Canada and learned that in areas of Alberta up to 50 percent of beef farmers had eliminated their herds. They couldn’t afford the cost of production. The Canadian government has already paid $30 per acre for farmers suffering from cold wet crop failures. Early in the summer we learned of Russian crop failures and decreased yields in many parts of Asia, for example Pakistan due to flooding.

However, the biggest problems are political failures, misdirection and ignorance. Increasing urbanization results in a growing detachment of urbanites from agriculture. Even 30 years ago many urbanites came from or still knew people on the farm. Major newspapers had sections devoted to agriculture, but not anymore. Urban politics divert the mainstream media and the people, while farm troubles go unreported.

The Obama Administration is riddled with people who were either members of the Club of Rome or accept their doctrine. They’ll argue that overpopulation is the problem. Parts of the current price increases are due to increasing population, but also wealthier populations, especially in Asia. However, they ignore the biggest failures of leadership and the negative impacts of environmentalism. The problems are inadequate storage and poor distribution.

It’s estimated the world grows enough food to feed 26 billion people so volume is not the problem. In developed nations 30 percent of the crop never gets to the table and in developing nations it’s 60 percent. Where‘s the research and effort to improve storage? This was at the heart of the ozone/CFC issue, another false scientific claim and a forerunner to the global warming fiasco. As China and India pointed out in the ozone debate, you have reduced loss through refrigeration, now you are denying us the same opportunity. It was a classic case of what Driessen writes about in Eco-Imperialism.

The left rails against globalization, but it provides the mechanisms for distribution of goods and services without losing political control. Instead they want a one-world government with loss of all political control. So the middle and lower income people become vulnerable while Obama has focused on the wrong issues with ideological tunnel vision. As a result the people he claims to care about will suffer most as food prices soar and they will throw him out of power in 2012.

Why I Decided To Quit

An excellent letter. Even those who disagree should be moved to think.

And we think we are unhappy with the folks in WDC. This is an excellent illustration about a festering problem. It takes more than a few to fix the issue. mpb

Why I quit... Desert Storm vet explains decision to leave Air Force after 22 years

By MIKE BANZET

I never expected to write this letter, but my Mom e-mailed me to get information about my career for a writeup on Veterans Day, and as this is the first such holiday in 22 years when I will not be on active duty, I felt compelled to let you know why I decided to quit.

Quit is a strong word, I know. Everyone I’ve talked to has repeated that I’ve had a marvelous career and that I’ve retired with honor. Maybe that’s true on paper; I guess that it’s reflected by the record. But that’s not how I feel. I feel like I’ve quit. And because I’m not a quitter, I feel I have to explain why — not that anyone is asking, but because perhaps they don’t know to ask.

Briefly, my career had been a representation of the promise of this country. Starting out on the lowest rung of the rank ladder as an F-4G Wild Weasel crew chief, continuing on F-16s and the F-117A Stealth fighter in Desert Storm, then a small part of Desert Fox as a nuclear Maintenance Officer and finally a pilot that took part in numerous deployments in Southern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. I finished up an awesome year on the ground in Iraq , and was selected to receive a coveted “Definitely Promote,” assuring me of promotion to lieutenant colonel. They don’t pass out many of those. My dreams were right in front of me. All I had to do was grab them. And then I retired. Why?

Atlas Shrugged.

I had chosen, freely, to place my life between those that would do harm to the U.S. and those whom I would protect: her citizens. I had always believed in the best of America and the people of her lands; that despite occasional missteps there was a general “rightness” to our way. I lived that belief for 22 years, leading and following warriors into combat. I’m certainly no war hero; my brothers in arms have seen far more combat, more intense and personal than I. But I have become acquainted with death in a way that I hope you never do. My last tour, on the ground in Iraq was where my heart started to be hardened towards you, the electorate, and culminated in this letter, written two days before our elections. And here’s why.

You’ve elected officials who, for partisan points, spoke openly that the “…war is lost.” I happened to be in a dining facility in Baghdad that day, filled with the (mostly) young faces of (mostly) Army men and women. CNN was on the TVs, and things got very quiet when this elected official continued on, railing that the mission that some of these very people were here to do, had “…failed.” Yet, they would be donning their body armor, strapping on med kits and weapons, mounting HMMVs or MRAPs and heading outside the wire, ensuring that the newborn democracy in Iraq, purchased with so many lives, would be safe another night. The newly re-invigorated insurgents would be waiting, teeth bared back in a hateful smile, gripping the IED detonator, the RPG launcher, or the AK-47s to ply their trade with new energy, because the Senate Majority Leader had said they were winning.

You elected officials who continually defame and berate military members, whether it is the observation that if you’re not too bright, you’ll get “…stuck in Iraq” (this from a guy who has two Purple Hearts for self-inflicted wounds, and known for throwing someone else’s medals away in protest), or the calling of combat Marines cold-blooded killers (in a war; before trial). You’ve elected officials in the role of commander-in-chief who “loathe” the military, while using ROTC deferments and special treatment to avoid military service that the less “connected” take as a responsibility. On the basis of “change,” you elected someone who had close, ongoing associations with people who were part of an organization that tried to kill us [ U.S. military] on our own soil.

You elected officials that promised to take property from some Americans, and give it to you, merely because they had more than you did. Those Americans that these officials have labeled as the “rich” are your neighbors, who provide jobs and pay far more in taxes than you ever will. That means they are already subsidizing your lifestyle choices; you just want more of their property without the responsibility of risking your wealth and labor to get it. You would rather hire someone to take it from them. And you have.

Yet these same officials from this same party are the wealthiest group of people in both the House and Senate. They have offshore accounts, forbid unions in their businesses and use every tax loophole they can find with their armies of accountants. But you keep sending them back to those jobs, because they promise to steal from some Americans and give to you.

You elect officials who openly embrace illegal activity; but they don’t have to live with the consequences. Other Americans pay the price. You support “sanctuary cities” in open defiance of federal law, including supporting administrations who sue our sister states as they desperately try to control a crime epidemic by supporting federal law. You support an administration that leads a party that gives a standing ovation to the leader of a country that exploits our kindness and actively encourages law-breaking in our country while insulting our fellow citizens who dare to try to enforce the law. Check out your elected officials; did they stand and applaud the racist diatribe of the president of Mexico? Did they join the attorney general and the head of Homeland Security in applauding this gaping hole in (homeland) security and law? Do you have locks on your doors? Why?

You elect officials who are openly racist, decrying that “White folks’ greed drives a world in need…” and that their own grandmother was a “…typical white person.” Someone who sits in admiration as their pastor (small p; no capital letters for racists), in a church he attended for 20 years, slanders the United States as the “… U.S. of KKK America” and delights that the 9/11 “…chickens have come home to roost.” Someone who refused to denounce a paramilitary, racist organization that placed its members in front of polling places armed with billy clubs, and yelling racist, threatening epithets. On video. And the Attorney General did nothing.

Oh, wait. The Justice Department is now apparently, under sworn testimony, the Department of Racial Payback. And you continue to support the party that supports this blatantly racist behavior because they say that they will stick it to “the man” on your behalf. A Nation of Cowards? I don’t think so; this breathtaking racism is without equal in modern times. One would think that you would use your votes to eradicate these racist policies from the U.S. But that assumes eradicating racism is your aim. It’s not, or you would be as incensed at this blatant racism as you would if sheet-covered whites were there. But longtime Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd’s old gang has been rightfully disgraced and shamed into a virtual non-existence. Thank goodness that 52 percent of you discourage that kind of behavior.

But you don’t. You support the tactic of using the epithet of “racist” as the cudgel of choice for racists who don’t like policies that conservatives advocate. Don’t like illegal activity? Racist. Your party insists that to provide a photo ID — proving you are who you say you are — is not only too much of a burden to ask a voter to bear, but it’s racist as well. This not only terribly insulting to all races, but when the burden of proof to rent the DVD “Second Hand Lions” (amazing movie!) is higher than that required to vote for someone who has control of nuclear weapons or deploying men and women into harm’s way, there is something wrong.

It doesn’t end there. Don’t like a particular female’s policies? Sexist. Yet, you support politicians who prey on 20-year old interns, seduce underage male interns, and, as a double bonus, support a person for the Supreme Court who says she is “wiser” than white people because of her race and sex. And any opponent of hers must be sexist and racist. Yet the prevailing double standard makes “bitch” an acceptable term for a conservative grandmother with the temerity to want to stop illegal activity. And “whore” is acceptable terminology for any conservative woman.

Sarah Palin seems to be a nice person, the kind you would love to have as a neighbor, regardless of her policies; but you insist that she is stupid and vile. She is ignorant and inexperienced, clearly not ready for anything, as holding a variety of elected and appointed positions culminating in the governorship of Alaska clearly doesn’t hold up against… an organizer of race-based communities. Sexist, if a conservative said those words about a liberal, but because she is not pro-killing-little-kids, 52 percent of you decided she was worth vicious ad hominem attacks that continue to this day. Not just saying that you disagree, but saying she is evil. You support it all. All because the folks that practice this abhorrent behavior promise to give you free health care stolen from other Americans who haven’t paid their ill-defined “fair share.”

My oath was this: “I, Mike, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

I took that oath seriously. But you have responsibilities, too. You should take them seriously.
